Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela Lee.
Hi Angela, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was born and raised in South Korea and immigrated to the United States when I was ten years old. Growing up, I was always captivated by K-beauty, its innovation, the emphasis on healthy, natural-looking skin, and the artistry behind it all. Although K-beauty and K-culture are now widely celebrated in the States, it wasn’t always that way. Back then, I dreamed of one day introducing those philosophies and treatments to Michigan.
After earning my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Oakland University, I began my career as a cardiac progressive nurse at the hospital. While I loved caring for patients, I found myself equally drawn to the world of aesthetics. I started working at a medical spa as a nurse injector during the day while working night shifts at the hospital, it was exhausting, but deeply fulfilling. Those early years confirmed where my true passion lay: helping people look and feel their best through the artistry of aesthetics.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The journey to where I am today wasn’t easy. Working nights at the hospital and days at the medspa pushed me to my limits both physically and mentally. There were moments of doubt wondering if I could balance two demanding careers while building the foundation for my own business.
As a solo practitioner and small business owner, I wear many hats: provider, marketer, social media manager, scheduler, trainer, and more. Opening Pure Seoul Aesthetics in February 2025 in Birmingham, Michigan, came with its fair share of challenges, from navigating business logistics to building a client base and creating awareness about Korean aesthetics in a market that wasn’t familiar with it yet. But each challenge strengthened my resilience and reinforced my mission to bring authentic, cutting-edge Korean aesthetics to Michigan.
We’ve been impressed with Pure Seoul Aesthetics, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At Pure Seoul Aesthetics, my goal is to introduce clients to the innovation and artistry that define modern Korean aesthetics. What sets my practice apart is my dedication to offering the latest, most advanced treatments inspired by Korea’s top medical providers. My service menu includes Botox, fillers, PRF, Rejuran (a renowned Korean skin booster), and Density (a Korean RF device designed to firm and rejuvenate the skin). Every service is performed with techniques I’ve learned directly from some of the best Korean doctors, combining precision, subtlety, and a deep respect for natural beauty.
My approach is rooted in the belief that aesthetics should enhance one’s natural features, not mask them. I strive to create results that are fresh, youthful, and elegant, just like the Korean beauty philosophy I grew up admiring. Even while continuing to work part-time as a nurse in the hospital, I find immense joy in transforming confidence and empowering clients through my work at Pure Seoul.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
If there’s one thing I’ve learned from this journey, it’s that passion and perseverance always pay off. Balancing two careers while launching a business has taught me discipline, adaptability, and humility. I’ve learned that growth often happens outside of comfort zones in those long nights, tough decisions, and small victories that build over time.
Most importantly, I’ve learned to stay true to my vision. Bringing Korean beauty aesthetics to Michigan wasn’t just about opening another medspa; it was about creating a space where innovation meets authenticity. I hope Pure Seoul Aesthetics continues to grow as a pioneer in introducing Korean aesthetic trends to the Midwest, a place where clients can experience the very best of K-beauty without having to travel across the world.
