Daily Inspiration: Meet Uli Laczkovich

Today we’d like to introduce you to Uli Laczkovich. 

Hi Uli, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My driving force to do business is my interest in science and to create a safe and positive atmosphere for our customers to ask questions and to try various products. 

I worked over 25 years as a European pharmacists in several privately owned pharmacies. There I learned about the needs of our customers. 

In Berkley, I could make my visions to become true. We want to serve as a place for health and overall wellness. We have three departments in our store: 

Teas, loose-leaf and prepackaged 

Supplements and vitamins 

Skincare and accessories 

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It truly has been a rewarding journey, due to all my wonderful customers. And that is also from whom I learn to make our business better, from the customers. 

At the moment, supply chain issues are a problem for us too, like for many other businesses. 

We are a great team at Ullman’s and without our team, our store wouldn’t be possible. 

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I think the main characteristic of our work is listening to our customers. 

Then we try to find new, better products on a continuous base. It is fun and challenging at the same time to find products that are appealing from the outside but also have ingredients that are worth buying, and that is true for teas, vitamins, and skincare. 

I think many of us have bought something, that looked so great but didn’t deliver or didn’t taste good. Therefore, I like for our customers to try as much as possible in the store. 

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
When heart and head are on the same level, then great networking can start. 

I’m very thankful for the continued support from my husband and the honest feedback from my team. 

Through my three years in business, I have become friends with several other business owners and that helps tremendously!! 

And of course, being a member of the local DDA and Chamber is very helpful.
