Daily Inspiration: Meet T.J. Collica

Today we’d like to introduce you to T.J. Collica.

T.J., we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
The band came into existence in 2001. We wanted to put together a band that played popular, danceable music with an attention to detail and a wide variety. That quickly made us popular with couples getting married. So in addition to playing clubs, we started getting hired for private parties, corporate parties and weddings. Now we have a song list that totals 275 which allows us to tailor the events we play to the audiences we’re playing for. We also put on themed shows – a tribute to Motown, a 70s disco party and an 80s night.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I don’t think any band would tell you it’s been a smooth road. There are always challenges. Band members come and go, jobs get in the way of scheduling, people take time off to start families, etc. Thankfully we have always found great replacements and have talented understudies that allow us to deliver the same great performances.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
We are a band known for playing a barrage of crowd-pleasing songs that everyone knows and can sing and dance along to. I’m most proud of our professionalism. Our talent shines through but our professionalism sets us apart from other bands. We are quick to respond to emails and inquiries, we communicate well, we’re punctual, we pay attention to the little things and we deliver FUN performances!

How do you think about luck?
You have to get a little lucky in the local music business. You have to know the right people and sometimes you’re just there at the right time when something good falls in your lap.
