Today we’d like to introduce you to Sōl Manani.
Hi Sōl, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Wayyyyyyy too much to type! Been doing music for a looong time…
Several bands…
Several groups…
In several cities.
2 x breast cancer survivor.
Both times I have taken a holistic approach to healing.
Both bouts with cancer came at times when I was working out of state (New York with Fubu in 2000 & 2nd time Atlanta, GA working with Rushion McDonald)
I have taught at an African centered school in Detroit as lead teacher & director of special education during my first healing…
Had my son & quit my job to pursue writing full time.
Since have traveled to several countries, released several projects, written for several companies, including The We Hustle Different campaign for the Detroit Pistons 2021-22 season to receiving the key to the city in my hometown.
& the story goes on & on…
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Cancer moving
Single-parent
Band members quitting
No manager
No assistant
No booking agent
No record label
I have survived & thrive in a male-dominated industry off skill, commitment & hard work
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I am camera shy. I don’t like to take pictures.
