Hi Shaher W., it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
A Precision of Purpose: The Story of Dr. Khan and Executive Plastic Surgery
In a quiet corner of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, I’ve built something I’m truly proud of—Executive Plastic Surgery, PLLC, where surgical excellence meets deeply compassionate care. As a board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon, my journey from a curious biochemistry student to a dedicated specialist in plastic surgery has been one of hard work, passion, and purpose.

I founded Executive Plastic Surgery in October 2014 with a vision: to bring personalized, high-quality plastic and reconstructive care to the diverse communities of Michigan. Holding dual board certifications—from the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American College of Surgeons—I combine aesthetic precision with the disciplined foundation of general surgery to offer a full spectrum of care.

In addition to my clinic, I created Landmark Surgery Center, a state-of-the-art QUAD A accredited surgical facility where I perform procedures for my patients in a safe, private, and meticulously maintained environment. Building my own surgery center has allowed me to uphold the highest standards in patient safety, comfort, and surgical outcomes—something I consider essential to the care I provide.

My medical path began in Austin, Texas, where I earned my degree in biochemistry at the University of Texas. I went on to receive my M.D. from Chicago Medical School, then pursued a demanding surgical residency at the Yale School of Medicine. There, I also completed a burn and surgical critical care fellowship at the prestigious Andrew J. Panettieri Burn Center, focusing on trauma and complex wound healing.

Further refining my skills, I trained in general and plastic surgery at Case Medical Center and Wayne State University. Whether I’m performing a complex hand reconstruction or a cosmetic procedure, I approach each case with precision, empathy, and respect for the individual.

I currently work in affiliation with several leading medical centers, including Ascension Providence and St. Joseph Mercy, but my approach remains personal. My patients often tell me that what sets me apart is that I truly listen. Behind every surgery, I see not just a medical need—but a story of healing, confidence, and transformation.

Through Executive Plastic Surgery and Landmark Surgery Center, I’ve created more than just a clinic and operating space—I’ve built a place where science and artistry meet, and where every patient is treated like a masterpiece in progress.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Choosing to specialize exclusively in breast explant surgery hasn’t come without its challenges. In an industry that’s largely driven by cosmetic trends and the profitability of breast augmentation, my decision to focus solely on implant removal has often gone against the grain. I’ve faced criticism, skepticism, and even pushback—from both within the medical community and the broader aesthetics industry.

But despite those obstacles, I’ve remained committed to my mission: helping women reclaim their health and their lives. Over the years, that commitment has drawn patients to me from all over the world—many of whom come to me after feeling dismissed or unheard elsewhere.

To support the growing needs of my practice and the patients I serve, I’ve built a state-of-the-art, QUAD A-accredited surgical center located on the second floor above my clinic in Bloomfield Hills. It’s a space designed with intention—private, safe, and fully equipped to provide life-changing care to the women who place their trust in me.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My expertise extends far beyond breast implant removal—though I’m honored to be recognized globally for my work in that specialty. At Executive Plastic Surgery, I treat a wide range of conditions with the same level of precision and care, including scar revision, burn reconstruction, complex laceration repair, keloids, and hand surgeries.

In addition to my reconstructive work, I also perform select cosmetic procedures. No matter the type of surgery, I’m always guided by the same core philosophy: to deliver natural-looking results while prioritizing patient safety and overall well-being. Healing Over Enhancing: How I Became a Global Leader in Breast Implant Removal Surgery

In a world where plastic surgery often centers around enhancement and aesthetics, I chose to take a different path—one rooted in ethics, patient advocacy, and a deep commitment to healing. I’m board-certified in both plastic and general surgery, and while I take pride in my technical skill, what defines my work most is my dedication to one simple principle: First, do no harm.

Unlike many in my field, I’ve performed only one breast augmentation in my career—and that was required for board certification. From the very beginning of my private practice in 2014, I made a conscious decision not to contribute to a trend I believe can cause long-term harm to patients. Instead, I chose to focus on the other side of the story: restoring health and wellness through breast implant removal.

Today, I’m grateful to be recognized around the world as a pioneer in breast explant surgery. Patients come to me from across the globe—including Europe, the Middle East, South America, and Australia—to undergo surgery at my practice, Executive Plastic Surgery, in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.

This work is deeply personal to me. Over the years, I’ve listened to countless women describe the life-altering effects of Breast Implant Illness (BII)—a condition that has often been overlooked or dismissed by the broader medical community. These women report symptoms like chronic fatigue, joint pain, autoimmune issues, and neurological dysfunction. For many of them, explant surgery isn’t just a procedure—it’s a turning point in reclaiming their health and sense of self.

I specialize in en bloc capsulectomy, a meticulous technique that removes both the implant and the surrounding capsule in one piece, minimizing contamination risk and supporting a smoother recovery. I take time with each of my patients to walk them through every step—discussing the medical, emotional, and even psychological aspects of the journey. I’m honest and transparent, because my goal is to help patients reclaim a healthier lifestyle and get back on the right track with their health. I don’t take shortcuts, and I never treat one patient differently from another—everyone deserves the same thorough, compassionate care.

Over time, my reputation has grown far beyond Michigan. Through my YouTube channel, the Breast Implant Illness Support Group by Dr. Shaher Khan, MD on Facebook, other social media platforms, as well as international media features and word-of-mouth from my patients, I’ve become a trusted voice in a field that is only now beginning to reckon with the long-term consequences of breast implants.

In an industry that can often be driven by trends and commercial appeal, I’ve remained focused on what medicine is truly meant to be: the art of healing. Through my work, I strive to redefine success in plastic surgery—not by how someone looks, but by how they feel when they finally return to themselves.
