Today we’d like to introduce you to Rick Sykes.
Rick , we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Don’t Engage N Road Rage, Inc is a Michigan based nonprofit organization and limited liability company dedicated to promoting road rage education, awareness, resources and safety across the country. The organization was born out of my personal experiences, encounters and education in the area of road rage and aggressive driving. We thrive on impacting, changing, but more importantly saving lives.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not at all, the road hasn’t been smooth, not by a long shot. One of the major challenges or struggles I have faced, was trying to convey, convince and communicate to people the primary purpose and mission of the organization itself. In fact, when I started the organization, I had no idea of how Don’t Engage N Road Rage would resonate with my family, friends, let alone the community. But here we are, almost 9 years later.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Don’t Engage N Road Rage has 5 Goals:
(1). Maximize partnerships, projects, programs and other platforms to advance our mission of road rage awareness
(2). Educate high school students, soon-to-be drivers and young drivers to be respectful, responsible and reasonable
(3). Strategically target millennials as they represent over 50% of all road rage incidents
(4). Increase awareness of gun violence and road rage as it has increased by over 400%
(5). Encourage drivers to practice self-discipline, seek help for anger management, stress, etc
This year, I am most proud of the following accomplishments:
-Lecturing at the University of Michigan on the subject of The Epidemic of Road Rage
-Receiving proclamations from the Mayors of Ann Arbor, Lansing and other surrounding cities in my own home state for our
work
-Partnering with Michelle Roberson and The Bianca Nikol Merge with Mercy Foundation to further advance road rage and gun violence awareness
-We are proud to announce that Don’t Engage N Road Rage has officially partnered with the North American International Auto Show (Detroit Auto Show) 2026, where we will be featured in the Vehicle Safety Event Section and Program from January 14–25, 2026, at Huntington Place in Detroit, Michigan.
Don’t Engage N Road Rage, Inc is the only organization in the country that’s dedicated to promoting road rage education, awareness, resources and safety across the country.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
