Today we’d like to introduce you to Rello Be
Hi Rello, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
How y’all doing, my name is Darell R Brown aka Rello Be. I know it’s a shock to the people that only know me for acting and comedy but when it comes to music, it’s always been in my blood. My father, the late Charles Edward Brown Sr. was a natural born singer. I could hear him singing every morning before church. He and my mother (Angelita D. Brown) made 12 beautiful children and I promise you we all have the gift of music. We can all just about sing, most of us play instruments, and write music. My father would say “anytime y’all come together God is in the midst”. Growing up in church is where the best come from. The best R&B singers, Rappers, and musicians. I’ve been an artist since I could remember, I apologize I didn’t make music earlier but in the right moment you know it’s time to take things to the next level. February 25th, 2023 is when I made that choice dropping my first single titled “True Lies”. Thank you to my fiancé Monet Jackson for that push. Now understand me when I say this, to make real music you must write about real life. It’s so easy to buy a cold beat taking the easy route and rap about drugs, money, cars, clothes, and ya know the rest. That’s not me though, rapping about killing is just crazy to me. That’s trash music in my opinion and this is why I rap about things a lot of us go through. Don’t get me wrong, I’m no saint but I do have a soul. I do know the power I have when it comes to music and influence. This is why I’m so diverse with my music… I want it to give vibes, provoke feels and emotions and to reach everyone. I always tell everyone “please don’t put me in a box”. My music is bigger than Flint and surrounding areas. I appreciate everyone who have given me a platform this far. I was blessed to have preformed at the traditional Juneteenth celebration, multiple plays including “A Sinners Prayer” written by Pastor Robert Powell and “Somebody Somewhere has to care” written by Dr. Kenyetta Dotson. Next year I have some things planned that’s gonna really open the door for my music and acting. I definitely appreciate Juise Beatz, Jay Tyree, and John x John for the amazing beats. C-Ray for being one of the coldest mixers in Flint and ILLA for providing a great safe place to record. It’s crazy because my first song Simeo Overall recorded, thanks bro. By the way make sure ya’ll check out my first album “Make It Make Sense” on every platform. I’m all about collaboration as well so if anyone want to work with me be sure to email at rellobemusic@gmail.com or brownboiproductionsllc@gmail.com. I could keeping running my mouth but I digress for now haha.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s always gonna be obstacles in the way when it comes to success but you have to keep pushing through. I believe the only obstacles I’ve had this far is marketing, I be so busy supporting others that I haven’t been supporting my self the way I should. Another obstacle for me is dealing with people that just want to “get on” instead of being around the real ones with a good heart that is on.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I do a lot more than just music, I’m actually a case worker that work with the youth. I have a heart for the youth so I do all I can to help them be better than those before them including myself. I’m known for doing comedy videos, shout to Uncle PD. Acting and I can’t wait for some movies to drop. I also do videography working with Brown Boi Productions, LLC. I believe what sets me apart is my creativity and determination. No matter what happens I’m going to keep moving forward.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
The advice I would give is even if you know things, act like you don’t when you’re around those who are further than you. Also get around people who really want to see you succeed and can help you get there.
