Daily Inspiration: Meet Nicholas Prescott

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicholas Prescott

Hi Nicholas, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I was born and raised in St. Lucia for most of my younger years. I grew up in Brooklyn, New York most of my life so music has pretty much been around me from the beginning honestly. I really wouldn’t be where I am today without growing up and overcoming obstacles and challenges. When I left home at 19 I became homeless for a while and really fell into the street life. I had some really tough and wild experiences being in the streets from dealing with gang activities to really just drowning out everything being deep into different types of drugs. Moving to Michigan and really getting a new sense for life really helped me push my music career even though I was 27 when I decided to fully focus on chasing my dreams. It’s never too late to do what you love and push for causes that are important to you. With music and advocating for causes such as Mental Health Awareness, Suicide Prevention and Teen Homeless Prevention. Those keep me pushing to make a lasting impact in this world. I want to be remembered as someone who made a difference when I’m gone.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No. I had to go through growing up in a struggling single parent household, struggles with my self image and loving myself, struggles of being homeless and sleeping outside, drug and substance abuse, coming to a new state and learning to navigate all over, having to push a music career without any help or any real type of support, and also dealing with mental health issues and severe suicidal thoughts. Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a Musician, songwriter, Activist. I’m mostly know as rapper GME Muziek a creative upcoming musican with a passion for music and all things creative. I have my own independent music label called GIFTED Music Entertainment which I started a bit over 10 years ago. I am mostly proud of starting my own music label collective, Being able to have tons of music available on all music platforms, Becoming an open advocate for Mental Health and suicide prevention, and also the Wishmas Foundation I started helping families in need have a chance to celebrate the Christmas holiday season. What sets me apart from others is my perseverance and my ability to make the most out of any situation to overcome. I feel like I have the ability to inspire others and make an impact that could make a change in society. I’m not perfect and I’m certainly fully flawed but that doesn’t stop me from bring out the best in me and others

How do you think about luck?
I really don’t think of it as luck but I feel like the things that I went to in life were necessary good or bad to shape me into the person that I am today. There’s always going to be ups and downs in life but it’s about how we learn and grow from them.
