Daily Inspiration: Meet Michelle Soltman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Soltman

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I have spent my entire career working for highly successful, privately owned businesses, gaining a wealth of experience by wearing many hats and learning every facet of business operations. From an early stage, I approached my work with an entrepreneurial mindset, always eager to learn from mentors and build meaningful relationships. I hold a BBA with a major in marketing, and over the years, I’ve grown into business development consulting. My journey has been shaped by a passion for fostering leadership, trust, and collaboration within teams and organizations.

In 2020, I took the leap and founded my own company, BlueSky Wellness Group. Our team focuses on leadership development, employee engagement, continuing healthcare education, and wellness programs. We work to help companies retain and motivate their staff through tailored wellness packages, retreats, and professional development. In December 2023, my sister and I acquired CE Healthlink, which offers specialized healthcare education for professionals, including courses on essential topics such as Human Trafficking, Ethics, and Pain Management. We help healthcare professionals expand their skills while earning the credits they need for licensure.

Beyond these ventures, I am also the COO of KRUU US Inc. My passion for business development and relationships has been the foundation of my success. I thrive on the energy that comes from connecting people, solving problems, and building sustainable, thriving businesses.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Entrepreneurship and small business ownership come with their share of challenges, and my journey has been no exception. One of the early struggles we faced was managing cash flow, which is common for many startups. There were periods when we had to carefully balance incoming revenue with outgoing expenses to keep operations running smoothly. It taught us to be financially agile and better plan for future needs by developing a solid budget and building strong relationships with vendors and clients.

Attracting and retaining employees has also been a hurdle, especially in a competitive market. We’ve faced periods where hiring the right talent seemed difficult, and retention was a struggle. To correct this, we’ve invested in employee engagement programs, wellness initiatives, and clear growth paths within the company. This has not only helped improve retention but has also fostered a culture of loyalty and development, where our team feels valued and supported.

Adapting to changes in the economy and fluctuating sales cycles also required flexibility. We had to pivot our offerings and refine our business strategies during downturns. Each challenge has been an opportunity to learn, grow, and build a stronger foundation for future success.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
At my core, I specialize in business development, helping organizations grow by focusing on leadership, employee engagement, and wellness. My strength lies in being decisive and providing clear direction, especially when it comes to problem-solving. I’m known for taking complex situations and breaking them down into actionable steps, which has helped many businesses I’ve worked with overcome obstacles and achieve success.

What I’m most proud of is the coaching I do for others. Seeing individuals grow and succeed in their careers because of the guidance and support I’ve offered is incredibly rewarding. It’s one thing to build a business, but it’s another to help others find their own paths to success and fulfillment.

What sets me apart is my approach to meeting people where they are. I believe in leveraging not just their strengths but also embracing their perceived weaknesses, teaching them to find the positive in both. It’s easy to get caught up in what we think we should improve, but I focus on helping people use their unique personality traits to operate a successful business. That personalized, empowering approach is what makes the coaching I offer stand out.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Risk-taking is an inherent part of being an entrepreneur. Nearly every decision involves some degree of uncertainty, and there’s always the potential for loss or failure. To succeed, you have to get comfortable with being uncomfortable and be willing to step into the unknown. Over the years, I’ve learned that risk isn’t something to fear but to manage and embrace as part of growth. It’s also important to acknowledge when things don’t go as planned. Mistakes happen, but the key is to view them as learning opportunities rather than setbacks.

One major lesson I’ve learned is that apprehension about risk is often tied to internal blockers. For example, a scarcity mindset can limit business growth, or underlying fears can paralyze decision-making. In my coaching work, I often help professionals identify these blockers and work through them. I use a system of “accelerators” to move clients past their barriers so they can make more confident, informed decisions. Risk is inevitable, but with the right mindset and tools, it becomes an opportunity for learning and progress rather than something to avoid.
