Daily Inspiration: Meet Leiah B

Today we’d like to introduce you to Leiah B.

Hi Leiah B, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I began my musical journey at a very young age. Growing up, I was the youngest of four sisters (2 younger siblings), and we all loved music. They used to write original songs as well as remix famous tunes. When we were kids, there were some words we couldn’t say, like “funky,” so they would change it to something we could say, like “goodie,” and that version ended up being the one that the entire neighborhood would sing. More than they’ll ever realize, watching them inspired me. I went to school and started writing songs because I wanted to do everything they did. I attended a performing arts school in 5th grade and had a music teacher who encouraged me to write music. That same year my friend and I had a songbook filled with lyrics I still remember, but it was stolen. This might explain why freestyle feels so comfortable to me right now. Going to that school ignited a fire in me, and after seeing High School Musical, I couldn’t stop dreaming about being on stage, and I’ve been rushing to it ever since.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The thrill of it has been that this route has been anything but smooth; but, if it were simple, I’m not sure how much interest I would have. Every day presents a new challenge, but chasing perfection is my main source of conflict.

We’d love to learn more about your work. What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What sets you apart from others?
My voice has been regarded as heartfelt and distinct. Thrills and Joker are currently available for streaming on all platforms, and my intention is to release my EP very soon. As an artist, authenticity is really important to me, therefore I believe that what distinguishes me from others is my ability to be entirely vulnerable on every track.

What do you think about luck?
I guess I’d say I’m lucky, but I attribute that to manifestation and sheer determination.
