Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura Rain.
Hi Laura, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I met George in 2012, and we started writing a week later. “Laura Rain and the Caesars”was formed with a Detroit r&b, soul, and organ-based trio in mind. We have released over five albums of music and nine singles. We have toured for over twelve years now. Our current list of projects include sample packs, collaborations, along with future releases from the Caesars.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The music business is very challenging. I would not advise anyone to chase this career path unless they are in it for the long haul. This kind of lifestyle requires an unwavering dedication and a distinct ability to hustle and seek opportunity and chase money, all the while tactically organizing your team, game plan, and brand mission.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I along with my producer, co-writer, band leader, and husband George Friend, are song writers first.
We specialize in songwriting, performing, touring, and collaborating with other music producers and artists.
We are known mainly for our award winning original retro soul band “Laura Rain and the Caesars.” We are also gaining recognition for our many collaborative sample placements within the hip hop genre. I am humbled that our music has reached multiple facets within the music industry.
What has set us apart is our song writing, versatility, and fluidity within genres. There is something for most regarding our music and live shows.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Point blank, if you don’t try you will never win. If you don’t ask, you don’t get. If you give up and lose faith, you’ve lost everything!
You must take risks or chances.
That being said, I think the older you get, your risks have to be more calculated, as there is much more at stake. You also have to weigh your enthusiasm and passion for what you take on.
Things that can make life much easier for a creative are:
Making attainable daily lists
Building relationships
Being prepared
Executing your work with the highest quality as you can
Be authentic
Follow up
Be organized
