Today we’d like to introduce you to Kyle Gierada.
Kyle, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Dog and Pony Show Brewing opened in 2021 as the pandemic came to a close. We’re family owned and operated. We opened our doors with the idea of making high quality craft beer/cider and being a community centric location. Oak Park has been wonderful hosts to us in welcoming us and making us feel part of the community.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
What bar and restaurant business is smooth? I think we’re lucky to be part of a welcoming community and great beer state in Michigan, Certainly the economy, the tariffs, inflation, all have some effect on our business but relatively speaking we’re very pleased with how we’ve been able to grow during these first 4 years in business.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My day to day is brewery operations and taproom management. Growing the small business and creating local relationships so we can continue to make the best beer in Metro Detroit. We offer a great variety of high-quality beer and cider, more importantly we’re a local hub where Oak Park, Berkley, Lathrup Village, and Huntington Woods can all gather and enjoy.
What are your plans for the future?
We’d like to start local distribution and someday the possibility of a second location. For now we’d like to produce over 500 barrels annually. We’ve been close but never over that number.
