Today we’d like to introduce you to Kevin Allure.
Hi Kevin , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been singing for as long as I can remember. From what my parents have told me, I was singing pretty much as soon as I could talk, and growing up I was always performing around the house. Music became a big part of my life through singing in church, local talent shows and choir throughout high school.
I realized pretty early that I wanted to be an artist. I grew up heavily inspired by artists like Usher and Beyoncé, and once it clicked for me that I could actually sing, seeing artists like them made me feel like pursuing music was something I could do too. I was always making up my own songs, and my first professional studio experience came through my older brothers when I sang a hook on one of their songs. Around 15, I recorded my first original song, and by 16 I had a YouTube channel where I posted R&B covers and started putting myself out there as a singer.
Music stayed with me as I got older, even during periods when I wasn’t actively pursuing it as a career. I continued singing and sharing videos online, but eventually I felt myself being pulled back toward creating my own music and really giving myself a chance as an artist. That journey has brought me to where I am today — releasing original music as Kevin Allure and preparing to release my debut EP, TUNED IN.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road. One of my biggest obstacles has honestly been myself. Fear and perfectionism have held me back at different points because I would sometimes feel like everything had to be exactly right before I could move forward. Whether it was releasing music, performing or putting myself out there creatively, I could overthink things to the point where I would hesitate or miss opportunities.
Finances have also been a challenge. As an independent artist, so much of what you want to create requires you to invest in yourself, and sometimes your vision is bigger than what your budget allows at that moment. On top of that, there’s just life — working, responsibilities and trying to balance all of that while still making room for your passion.
I think one of the biggest things I’ve learned is that I can’t wait until I feel completely fearless or until everything is perfect. I’m learning to trust myself more, take the opportunity, show up and allow myself to grow along the way.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m an R&B/Pop singer and songwriter performing under the name Kevin Allure. My music blends confidence, vulnerability and sensuality, and I enjoy moving between different sounds and emotions creatively. Whether a song is fun and playful, more emotional, or a little provocative, I still want it to feel authentic to me.
What I’m most proud of right now is my debut EP, TUNED IN. It feels like the first full introduction to who I am as an artist and brings together different sides of my sound and personality. Creating and releasing this project also represents me pushing past a lot of the hesitation and perfectionism that held me back in the past.
What I think sets me apart is my willingness to be myself without feeling like I have to follow one specific formula for what an artist should look or sound like. I want my personality to come through just as much as the music itself. Ultimately, I want people to connect with the songs while also feeling like they’re getting to know me through them.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
The biggest thing I would say is don’t let yourself get in your own way. You probably already have more in you than you realize, but you have to believe in it enough to actually put yourself out there. I spent a lot of time thinking I needed to feel completely ready or have everything figured out before taking certain steps, and I’ve learned that you can miss out on a lot waiting for the perfect moment.
I also wish I understood earlier that growth is part of the process. Everything you create doesn’t have to be perfect, and you don’t have to have your entire career mapped out before you start. Life experiences will shape you, your confidence will grow, and you’ll figure things out as you go. Start with what you have, keep learning, and give yourself permission to become better along the way.
