Daily Inspiration: Meet Jennifer Wilson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Wilson

Hi Jennifer, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Celestial Farms has been a labor of love deeply rooted in family and legacy. For me and my husband Kyle the journey to creating this modern farmhouse venue began with a profound loss that shaped our lives forever. We lost both Kyle’s parents many years ago to an unexpected tragedy and inherited their horse farm. The farm -named Celestial Farms named by our parents-was near and dear to our parents hearts. All of their horses were named after stars and celestial themed names. After years of caring for their horses we lost our last horse to old age in 2020. Her name was midnight and she was a large part of our family of four. We have two daughters, Kylee and Khloe who adore horses because of their grandparents. It was hard to accept the fact that the last life -the last pet that was connected to our parents was gone. The beautiful property felt empty. We had to do something to keep the family legacy alive. We wanted to create a space for love and laughter, and making beautiful memories to help us heal from the sad memories we had been faced with for so many years. We were determined to honor our parents legacy while transitioning out of caring for horses. The idea of a wedding venue suited the space perfectly. Not only because of the love and happiness weddings bring, but our horse barn was the perfect shell for a venue with its original cedar siding on the outside and a blank slate on the inside (after tearing down the horse stalls). We wanted the barn to keep it’s rustic charm while adding all of the modern amenities you’d need for a sophisticated aesthetic. We added indoor and outdoor restrooms, a pavilion, designated ceremony locations, and two spacious modern and comfortable dressing suites. We made everything wheelchair and handicapped accessible, and are climate controlled year round for ultimate comfort . The name Celestial Farms had to remain as a tribute to its origins. The venue stands as a beacon of hope and celebration hosting couples in love and ready to embark on their journeys. Celestial Farms is more than just a venue to us. It’s a legacy of resilience, love, transformation and growth. With every single wedding and every single love story we write new chapters in our story. The space has become something magical for our family that we love sharing with our couples. You can feel the love we’ve put into this place which is why our couples have the most amazing celebrations, every single time. We strive to make every single wedding unique, memorable, magical, stress free and fun, and timeless. Celestial Farms has helped our family heal, and I personally found my passion as a wedding venue owner and coordinator. My CF team is like family and I’m extremely proud of how far we’ve come, and excited for what the future brings as we continue to add features each season.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Most of the struggles were emotional for us. We wanted to be sure we built something that radiated positivity. I was afraid to fail, and create more sadness for my family. I needed to succeed and it was a lot of pressure. Of course with all new businesses there are always financial stresses. I was afraid to invest our life savings thats for sure. I had never been in the wedding industry before so it was a completely new field, my husband runs an underground construction company in a different barn on the property, and I was a SAHM for many years. I have a degree in business management but I was struggling to find my passion. I worked in real estate for a while, but I wasn’t passionate about real estate sales therefore I felt I wasn’t good at sales. But once I found something I believed in the sales part came natural for me. I don’t look at it like I’m “selling” weddings, I’m creating once in a lifetime experiences for our couples.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I think the design of the barn was my passion for real estate coming out. The party planning aspect came from the events I always threw for my kids, my family and my friends.. I made every birthday party extra special with themes, activities, beautiful and fun cakes, and somehow I always knew how to make a good party flow, how to make it fun for everyone. And my husbands role managing all of the barn construction came from his (our) history of flipping houses and owning a construction business. All of our strengths came together to make this project a success.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory has to be family holidays when my grandma and grandpa Huneycutt were still with us. Family has always been my number one.
