Daily Inspiration: Meet Jennifer Tilney

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Tilney. 

Hi Jennifer, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started Platinum Skin Care back in 2001. Since my mid 20’s I was plagued with grade 3 acne. I had gone to a local medi spa to get treatments… peels, microdermabrasions, and light treatments were some of the options. 

This was very expensive for me… too expensive… so I decided to start finding ways to do this in my own home. 

One big thing that I noticed – even after Asking what I should be using every day – was that they didn’t even care what I did at home. I could have been slathering dirty grease on my face and that was fine with them. … most likely it would be a bigger reason for me to keep coming back searching for help. That really turned me off! 

I am glad for this experience though because it got me primed for a home business. I KNEW there were many out there, suffering as I was, with no option of paying several hundred dollars a treatment. NO idea on what to use every day to heal and PREVENT acne in the first place. 

I knew this was my calling at that point. I started my research on all of the ingredients that could help my skin. I worked with those, took pages and pages of notes, and after about 9 months I was ready to begin my journey. 

I made my very first website myself. I did all my own SEO and advertising and designed my logo and labels… It was a LOT of work… but it was a labor of love. 

Back then I just started with just myself and a handful of products I could get private-labeled… Then – soon after, I found a laboratory that would make me EXACTLY what I wanted… and that is when Platinum Skin Care really blossomed. MY formulations worked. 

For the past 16+ years, I have had a wonderful staff to help me run this business. If you call today – you can speak to one of the same representatives who started with me all that time ago. I also have an excellent Marketing friend of which I work very closely with to help all of our customers (and customers-to-be) to get the answers they are searching for. 

From day one I had sales, and now 20 years later I never look back – except to marvel at how far I have come and to revel in how many thousands of people I have been able to help. 🙂 

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road was anything but smooth. With google algorithms and advertisers just looking to take your money with little to no roi. Companies creating links for you “back in the day” and those turning into negative things… So many technical things that can ruin your presence. We have gotten past those though. 

We have a new advertising style now. More of a teaching relationship. We help everyone first. Then, they choose to work with us. That is the way I have always liked it. I don’t want to SELL anyone anything. I tell them how things work and they make the choice to follow my wisdom. 

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I have an art degree. Graduated back in 2000 as Suma Cum Laude with a 4.0. I have always been heavily involved in the look of things. Even though I am creating skincare – there is a beauty in that. 

There is a Name. The Look of the product. Logos. Design of the label and website. … even the design in our gorgeous showroom at our location. I pay a huge part in all of that and love every creative minute with all of the wonderful people I work with to accomplish that. 

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
There is so much… but nothing we can cover in a short interview. What I want to end with and stress is that I WANT to HELP everyone get past their skin issues.
