Daily Inspiration: Meet Jennifer LeBaron

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer LeBaron.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started working for a local newspaper right out of high school as a reporter and was expected to take my own photos. At the time they only had a manual camera option, so I started taking classes in college, and my love of telling a story with a camera grew from there!
After 10 years of solid wedding referrals and being a weekend warrior, I chose to market towards portrait photography and really found my niche with high school seniors and fashion trends, shooting on location and in studio. I am currently doing a variety of both weddings and portrait photography around Grand Rapids.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
My goal is always to deliver beautiful, high-quality images—but more than that, I want my clients to walk away feeling seen, celebrated, and cared for. That means being responsive, flexible, encouraging, and always going the extra mile to make the experience fun, relaxed, and unforgettable. Whether it’s helping with outfit choices, scouting meaningful locations, or just making someone feel comfortable in front of the camera, it’s the experience that keeps people coming back.

In a time when money is tight and choices matter, I know clients will remember how I made them feel. And that’s what gives my business staying power—not just the pretty pictures, but the genuine connections.

At Flair Photos, I specialize in high school senior photography that goes beyond the basics—we create custom experiences that celebrate each senior’s personality, sport, passions, and story. I’m known for colorful, themed sessions with a fresh perspective and a twist of fashion and trend! What sets Flair Photos apart is not just the quality of the images, but the experience I offer: from styling guidance to location planning and relaxed posing direction, every detail is crafted to help seniors feel confident and seen. I’m most proud of the connections I build with my clients—many come back year after year or refer their friends because they know they’ll get more than just pretty photos; they’ll get memories and moments that last a lifetime. We also offer behind-the-scenes videos that we have been doing long before Instagram Reels even existed!!

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned as a photography business owner is the value of staying fresh and open to change. This industry is always evolving, and if you want to stay relevant, you can’t be afraid to try new things. Whether it’s experimenting with creative shoot concepts, updating the client experience, or learning how to navigate the rise of AI in the photography world—adaptability is key. Embracing change instead of resisting it has not only helped my business grow but has also kept my passion alive. Staying curious and evolving with the times is what keeps my work inspired and my brand moving forward.
