Hi Hillary, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started my photography journey in my late twenties, using the camera as a personal lens to share how I see the world. I love exploring many different styles and genres. Street photography lets me capture raw slices of ordinary life, while portraits help me connect with people.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Photography is a constant loop of soaring creative highs and sometimes crippling self-doubt. Every frame you capture battles the quiet voice of imposter syndrome telling you the shot was just luck.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My proudest work reveals the real life of the city and its residents. Something I like to do is different photo series. One of my most beloved series is photographing cats I meet all over the city. I also have series of basketball hoops, chairs, shoes, etc. People truly notice and value the detail in my photos. I shoot from a place of pure passion and genuine love for the craft. I am dedicated to continuous growth and technical improvement in my photography.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Resilience: Not giving up when things get hard. Curiosity: Wanting to learn new things and ask questions. Consistency: Showing up and doing the work every day.
