Daily Inspiration: Meet Glenn Douglas Packard

Today we’d like to introduce you to Glenn Douglas Packard.

Hi Glenn, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My tragic-to-triumph story started out as a small-town farm boy to an international TV personality, Emmy Award Nominated Choreographer & award-winning filmmaker. I have had a Forrest Gump-like life, traveling the world and working along such iconic artist as Pink, Michael Jackson, Ricky Martin, Whitney Houston, Daddy Yankee, Missy Elliot & Usher, to name a few. I have been entrusted as creative director and choreographer to over 150 shows, co-wrote and directed a horror film “Pitchfork – Every Generation Has It’s Monster,” filmed a Bollywood movie in Krakow, Poland, recreated and help restart Chippendales, making it again a huge success in Las Vegas & US/World Tours, which lead me to create my own male revue brand Men of the Strip which the E! Network aired on their network. Been casted in one of VH-1 largest TV series Hogan & Brooke Knows Best, becoming an out & proud breakout star in the LGBTQ+ community. If you would have told young milking cows country boy Glenn that this would be part of his future, I don’t know if he would have believed it! But on a certain day when I was 19 years old, a three-wheeler accident that almost had my right leg amputated change the path of my life for the better. That tragic accident made me start living the life I imagined for myself. I start to live as my authentic self; I turned in my farmer work boots for some dance shoes, I ended my engagement to my high school sweetheart to starting a relationship with a man, and I said goodbye to the Midwest lifestyle to the big city lights of NYC. I followed my passion for entertainment; nothing was gonna stop me till in a city where ‘If you can make it here you can make it anywhere’ I made sure everyone knew my name in my entertainment work field, and I have been happy ever since, living & being my true self. What an adventure it has been.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Of course, in every life story there is the ups and downs, the good and the bad, the beautiful and the ugly. Because of that accident I had at a young age, I knew the true meaning of life; every day I woke up happy to be alive. I treated each day like it was gonna be my last and even started my days feeling like it was my first day on this planet. So, with that mentality, the downs, bad, ugly, those struggles they were always replaced with the good, the ups, and the beautiful. I could tell you about all the horrible things that happen to me or that I witnessed, but I would rather focus on all the amazing things I have and had during this 50-year journey. So, what I would like you to know is everyone has their story; turn any tragic happenings in your world into a triumph life-changing moment. Man, if you saw me walking down the streets of NYC during my 20s, you would probably think to yourself who does this dude think he is dancing the streets of Manhattan to his own beat of his drum with a big smile on his face. I was alive, living my dream, and you can too because anything is possible, I am living proof of that.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Going into my 30s, the New York City Times dubbed me ‘The Dancing Entrepreneur’ I was moving more into a leadership position after dancing for many years; I knew I could be someone in charge and to lead by example. I climbed my way up the entertainment ladder from dancer to assistant to a choreographer, to choreographer to creative director to director; I started the first dance agency in NYC, which eventually evolved into my own production company called Untouchables Entertainment Inc. I recently relocated back to my roots to Pure Michigan. I missed the humble Midwest cabin lake life living and had sacrificed so many years away from my family, who I loved so much; Uncle Glenn to this day, is the title closest to my heart. Untouchable Entertainment Inc. open its doors in greater Lansing area in 2017 and is a full spectrum production company specializing in film, commercials, music videos & live stage events. I bring the experiences I had in the big cities of NYC, LA, Miami & Las Vegas to Michigan. Within the Untouchables umbrella, I also created a dance company called the INstitute of Dancers, where I mentor a group of inspiring entertainers to live authentically as themselves with the superpower of being extremely talent but put forth their humble kindness which in the big city the people in entertainment power want to be surrounded by the power of humbleness & kindness, they want a piece of it. (Sounds like a comic book story just waiting to hit the big screen lol)

What sets me apart from others is probably very few, or maybe no one in Michigan has had the training combined with the professional industry experiences I had, Working with Michael Jackson, creating stage concepts for live music award shows, working on a Bollywood film & directing a horror film, walking into several LA skyscrapers to pitch and sell a television show to the heads of major networks, performing on some of the biggest stages on the planet, traveling the worldly travel experiences is something you can’t teach unless you have experienced it. This has been my life, my adventures. So now with these life professional career experiences under my belt, I am able to provide the best training, tools, skills, and knowledge needed for Michigan talent to succeed in this crazy entertainment industry I love so very much and made me the man I am today. the INstitute of Dancers’ company motto is “Don’t Tell People Your Dreams, Show Them!”

I am most proud of my title “The Dream Maker” I am that guy cheering you on, opening the doors to countless opportunities, and doing it with an SM:)E with the motto to ‘keep marching forward.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters the most to me is to make sure people know to find your passion and live your life doing it no matter what don’t let anyone stop you from being you. If I would have kept farming, I don’t think I would have been happy with myself; it was something I was born into; it wasn’t who I was or meant to be. Luckily, I learned that at a young age in that accident. Don’t wait for something tragic to happen to you to learn the meaning of life; start living true to yourself, tap into your passions, and everything else will fall into place. You will be surrounded by people just like you, who will understand and support you; you will be able to handle tough times because every day, you are waking up happy, making it easier to handle all the things life has to throw at you. Keep on your path, don’t let anyone or anything stop you from your goals & greatness; also a 101 tip (which I am currently writing a book on these life tips) make sure to write your goals down or put images of things you need to see daily to inspire you to help get you to your goals & greatness. You need to know you are the captain of your destiny, oh, and it’s never too late. I mean look at me; I didn’t walk into my first dance class till I was 21 years old, in a career where they say you need to start at 7yrs old, but look at the amazing things I accomplished starting when I knew who I was and what I wanted, you can’t give me your excuses because I can show you the proof that nothing is impossible, the power of positive thinking can get you to the life you imagine for yourself. Smile, and the world will smile back! – GDP
