Today we’d like to introduce you to Gary Crenshaw.
Hi Gary, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started filming back in 2016. I had a business partner who shared the same vision when it came to film making. we had the vision, but didn’t have the funds. we didnt let that stop us, we filmed on an iphone and had our very first premier. Since then ive grown and completed many of projects and have help others with their projects. I also built a film studio called “Gr8tlakes studios” I have books now , tv series and a handful of movies on multiple platforms.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s been an up and down road, especially being INDEPENDENT , some of the struggles are mainly just finding like minded people that actually share the same desire in film making and not getting caught up on the money.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Having a great team keeps you on your toes.
Having a mentor will keep you balanced especially if you have one that’s not in competition with you .
what has worked well with me is just remembering the things ive messed up on before so I don’t make the same error twice. In this industry being independent you’re going to make mistakes and there will be times when you do things on the first try and get them right.
