Daily Inspiration: Meet Felicia Bryant

Today we’d like to introduce you to Felicia Bryant.

Hi Felicia, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story? Well, in high school I was “anti-girly” haha. But, by the time I moved on campus for college I found myself curious about makeup and beauty. I also reignited my love for animated shows and started watching Batman The Animated Series. As I watched that, I thought “I want to be Joker” and decided to look up Joker inspired makeup looks. I stumbled upon MadeYewLook on YouTube. Ever since then, I’ve been creating beauty and cosplay content.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
On the beauty side, I struggled being marketable to the everyday person. As I explored makeup and different techniques, I fell in love with bold and colorful looks. At the time “creative makeup” wasn’t sought after unless you were working a photoshoot or something. I called some friends and family to practice “regular” makeup on, started posting that and began to get traction. After this, I began working with photographers and models to be able to do those more extravagant looks. That’s my niche now, but I do occasionally do “normal” makeup for people.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
This is a big question. I do art haha. Between makeup, sfx, and crafting to create these looks and cosplays, I have to use a range of creative skills for a singular look. I’d say my niche is creative beauty makeup and “curly cosplays”. I like to reimagine characters with features similar to mine (especially hair texture). I think what I’m most known for would be my Nightcrawler, Sexy Patrick, or Joker cosplays. I’m most proud of the fact that I ALWAYS make the characters my own. If Marvel and DC can create multiple universes for characters, I can too!

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
Though Wixom is a small little city, I love how quiet it is. There are lots of community events and local gems so there’s always something to do. It isn’t far from Detroit either so having access to a big city is nice.
