Today we’d like to introduce you to Faith Murdock. They and their team shared their story with us below:
Faith has always been very advanced for her age. She’s always had something about her that always noticed people’s emotions even as a baby. When faith was 5, she took an interest in watching the news. She wanted to know about everything there was to know about the world and major events. She had lots of questions. Mainly on just how she could help.
When Faith was 8 years old, she got her first cell phone because of how far some of my family members live, I wanted her to be able to communicate without the Hassel of using my phone.
One night Faith and her grandma were watching the news and she heard about 3 teenagers who had passed away from Faster Horses. (a country music festival) it was a freak accident (carbon monoxide poisoning).
Faith decided it was close enough to home that she wanted to help their families. So, she made a Facebook, found my account, and I had shared a link to what happened. Faith commented on that link, but not under my comment section, but under the section that’s public to anyway.
It said something along the lines of wanting to take the money she had saved for a skateboard buying lemonade and cups and raising money for the boys that passed away.
Word got around, and she raised $1,018.
She donated every last penny. Faith enjoyed watching the community come together, and people hugging and strangers smiling and talking. She decided to do more.
Faith noticed some of her friends didn’t have coats for school. So, she set up another lemonade stand but this time she named it Faith’s Heavenly Lemonade. She went on to raise $3,967 to give families a Christmas (she adopted 8 families in total). $650 for her school and dropped off snow boots hats, coats, and gloves to her school. $1,028 for 2 young girls who lost their father, and $1076 for a little 2-year-old who drowned.
Faith then said one time someone told her the world needs more kids like you.
So, Faith started a club called Little Leaders. She has given kids a chance to play together and actually fit in. The club teaches them leadership skills and life skills, but most importantly, how to be kind.
Faith is now 10. She writes motivational speeches and has performed at the Salvation Army and at her school talent show. On December 14th Faith will also be doing her first assembly at a school.
Faith is working on a project called Telephones to Heaven and has teamed up with the Bikers against Bullying to show kids that they are not alone.
Faith inspires me every day. She was hand-picked by her entire class as student of the month because she never lets a kid play alone. She is kind, and I’m so proud of her.
She’s 10 and on a mission to change the world. Maybe this message could inspire others to stand up and make a change as she tries to every day.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not always been a smooth road. Faith had people threatening to shut down her lemonade stands. People had their opinions on me as her mom not putting her on social media. Lots of negative comments. But faith knows that in the race of life, you can break down, but you have to keep moving.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Faith does Lemonade stands to raise money for various causes. Faith also started a program for kids called Little Leaders. It’s all about making the world a positive and better place where there is kindness. As she is proud at the help, she can offer families she is most proud of her club she started and her telephone to Heaven that she is working on. Most 10-year-olds don’t think this big, and I think that is what sets her apart from others.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you.
I think God was her luck. Faith prays and goes to church, and she loves it. She quite honestly talks about it a lot and tries to spread just how much he has touched her life.
