Hi Destinée, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I first found my love for photography as a young child when my mother would have me take her pictures with her very first digital camera. Over the decades it grew into a fascination for taking pictures of anything I found to be pretty or interesting. In 2021 I had my first child and staged “photoshoots” with my iPhone at the time. I decided it was time to finally invest in a nice camera and pursue the passion I’ve always had. Life hit and the camera sat in its case for over 2 years before I decided enough was enough. I’m now successfully running my own business and providing so many amazing people with everlasting memories.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s been far from smooth. I’ve absolutely had my fair share of speed bumps. After purchasing my camera I suffered extremely severe PPD and it halted my plans and goals for over a year. Since starting over I’ve been faced with ridicule and self doubt but still pushed through.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a lifestyle and cinematic photographer. I specialize in capturing the moment’s others tend to not notice. The soft loving glances while the others not looking, the love that makes you feel the emotion without having to be there. I’m most proud of my adaptability to any situation, whether it be an energetic child that doesn’t want to “say cheese”, someone on the spectrum that needs a low stimulating session, easing nerves for women that don’t have a lot of experience in front of the lens, etc.
What I feel sets me apart is how personable I can be. I’m very understanding and the work I give shows the emotion I put into my passion.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I sometimes am willing to risk it for the biscuit but I definitely weigh out the pros and cons of each situation before making a decision.
