Hello! My name is Dena Halim, I am a 26-year-old certified lash artist located in centerline Michigan, I Began my lashing journey in August of 2021, something that only started off as a side hustle to bring in more income soon became my true passion and something I loved to do. At the time, I was working in a call center as a sales agent for a home improvement company. I always had a passion for the beauty industry, so home improvement was the last thing that I had any interest in. I was still always making sales, but I just kept thinking to myself, what am I gonna do with my life? Because I don’t want to work here forever! At the time, I was always getting my lashes done; that was something that I loved to do every 2 weeks. I look at lash extensions as a luxury, which is a word I love to use because I think of beauty and wealth when I hear it. What woman doesn’t want beauty and wealth? Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My journey has been very interesting, and I am very blessed to be where I am in just 2 short years. I opened a business doing something that I was completely new at, so of course, comparing my work from 2021 to 2023 going into almost 2024 is a huge difference! The hard work and dedication, and determination I put into my business shows every day as I am always improving and always getting new clients daily.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Lash Extensions is a form of both beauty and art, as all lash sets are 100% customized for the client. I am very proud of my long days and long nights that I spent working 10-12 hour shifts at my 9-5 job to fund my business and make it into what it’s becoming; I am proud of never giving up or losing hope and faith in myself when I was getting discouraged because I wasn’t as good as I wanted to be when I first started lashing. I love my career because I’m doing something I love, as well as making other women feel beautiful in their own skin, as well as always making new friends with my clients and educating them along the way.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson I’ve learned along my lash journey is that you can’t give up. If you give up, you are allowing yourself to fail; you’re telling yourself that it’s okay to fail, and to me failure is not an option. I will be successful, I will become a huge business one day, I will keep faith in myself and in my business that it will go as far as I want it to. And I will continue to leave smiles on all of my beautiful clients’ faces when they first open their eyes and see themselves in the mirror!
