Daily Inspiration: Meet Brian Sheehan

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Brian Sheehan.

Thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Everything I do is attempting to combine (almost) all of my interests into one form.

Costume/prop making, poetic, surreal storytelling, photography, graphic design, performance art, and then some. Be it either a complex, a calling, or flat-out escapism, it’s always made sense to lean in the direction of the arts.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There is never a shortage of obstacles, challenges, learning curves, general strife, etc., in this world.

I find that I don’t necessarily always make my best stuff in those times of turmoil, but the importance of showing up and making yourself creatively available is never more important.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’ve worked both commercially and freelance, but I have recently started a full-time position as the Senior Graphic Artist/Designer for an umbrella cannabis company/entity here in Michigan.

While the work there greatly contrasts my personal efforts, I’m consistently forced to learn new things. Some of which can be applied elsewhere. For freelance, the bulk of commissions are for bands. Album art, t-shirts, and everything in between.

Additionally, my focus has shifted to video work these last few years. Along with my creative/business partner Nate Cieslak (and our great many conspirators), I co-run The C.O.I.N., an art collective specializing in video production and transformative events.
