Today we’d like to introduce you to Bree Potter.
Hi Bree, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was 15 and met a guy who told me I had the face for modeling, and if I really wanted to get into it, he’d connect me with some photographers; from then on out, I started using social media platforms to reach out and become a freelance model and social media influencer
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not, there’s been months where I wasn’t getting any jobs or companies, and photographers would turn me down for not having enough followers or because of my tattoos.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I started off with modeling, but since then, I’ve grown into a makeup artist and social media influencer. It took years for me to gain confidence in my work; people would constantly laugh at me for it and tell me it was stupid, how people from my hometown and old school have texted me saying, “wow, I can’t believe you’re a model now” and so on, I’m proud of myself for continuing and now getting discouraged easily because I’ve been able to gain and following and have even been able to participate in many fun things, like breakaway music festival, Harley Davidson Calendars, etc.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, my personality was timid due to the amount of bullying I constantly encountered; I never really made friends or at least from my own school. I did my best to stay in a social scene though, as I’m a social person, I played volleyball and was in cheer, but I also enjoyed my alone time, where I would just sit in my room listening to my music and paint.
