Daily Inspiration: Meet Benjamin Starkey

Today we’d like to introduce you to Benjamin Starkey.

Hi Benjamin , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I was working a regular 9 to 5 and didn’t like how unfulfilled it made me feel. My friend started doing this in South Carolina and offered me a franchise, I jumped at the idea!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The biggest struggle for me was learning all the technical stuff, ticketing systems, running my website, all the social media involved. Not necessarily a struggle, but building my contact list with the good and trustworthy managers and owners of all the establishments that host my events has been a journey.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Not only do we travel throughout Michigan we also offer a variety of classes. We offer Beach Glass Trees, Wind Chimes, Hat Burning, Pyrography (burning designs into an assortment of things), Decoupage, Dot Art and our most recent and popular classes, Resin Jewelry and Resin Pours on Charcuterie boards.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I’ve had really good luck in finding some amazing breweries and wineries to work with in vibrant communities across Michigan (the best state). The worst luck comes in the wild weather we get, driving through blizzards in the winter. When the weather get’s really bad the Mackinac Bridge closes down and I’m not able to go to half the state!

Pricing:

  • Low $50
  • High $89
