Daily Inspiration: Meet Amy Temple

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Temple. 

Hi Amy, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always loved baking, baking, and cooking for others is my love language without a doubt. I’ve always made holiday cookie platters for friends and family, and about 5 years ago I made my first royal icing sugar cookie- it was a disaster! Over the next few years, I continued to research about decorating sugar cookies, and through a lot of trial and error feel I’ve mastered it as I continue to learn daily! After being laid off during the beginning of Covid from my long-time job in Logistics, I transitioned into being a stay-at-home Mom to my now 3 girls. Then in November 2021, I decided to take the leap from hobby baker to small business, it’s definitely been a challenging balance between home life and making time for baking but it truly gives me “me time” and a fulfilling purpose being a small part of others big life event celebrations! I’ve always wanted to be a stay-at-home Mom and always wanted a bakery so I feel I have the best of both worlds right now. 

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s been a fairy smooth process, with a steep learning curve early on. Figuring out how charging my worth, managing my time, workload, having adequate supplies on hand, and juggling home life all at once has made me more efficient I like to think. Most people don’t understand the amount of time that goes into creating these beautiful baked goods and having them taste even more delicious than they look. 

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in custom-decorated sugar cookies, but also offer cupcakes, drop cookies, cake pops, cocoa bombs, and much more. I’m most proud of my sugar cookies, it’s my niche and I get the most enjoyment from making them. I believe what sets me apart from other bakers is the love I pour into every batch, the quality of ingredients used, and care of my products. I treat every order as if it’s for my own friends or family, and want to perfect each design even better than my client expects. 

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you.
I wouldn’t say luck has played much of a role in my life. I believe you work hard for what you want, and if you put positive energy out into the world it will come back your way.
