Today, we’d like to introduce you to Alyse Blaszczynski.
Hi Alyse, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story started out as a dancer. From the age of three, I fell in love with the sport and continued practicing all throughout college.
Although the physicality of dancing was the foundation, it was the aspect of beauty in dance that fueled my passion throughout the years. It is one of the only sports done with a constant, poised expression and a full face of makeup. The facial expressions, enhancements, and artistry play one of the most important roles in portraying the story and the emotion behind the choreography.
I have never felt as alive and confident as I have walking on stage with my chiseled contour, fake lashes, winged liner, and dark lipstick, glowing with a ballerina’s smile. Now, for every special event and important day, I get myself ready and show up as if I’m walking onto that stage.
My love of beauty developed over the years and manifested into being obsessed with all things makeup. I was always the “go-to girl” for getting people ready to go out to prom, a night on the town, or a formal event. Whenever I was practicing makeup applications with my family or friends, I felt the same feeling of genuine passion and freedom, just like I did on stage dancing.
Makeup is my creative outlet, and working a full-time corporate job had me aching for that after graduating with my MBA. I decided to take a chance and invest in myself and my passion to start a side hustle. Alyse B. Beauty, LLC came to fruition after countless hours building a business plan, structuring online platforms, taking courses to become certified as a Makeup Artist, and gaining funding to supply my kit.
Now, in just three months, I have contracted six weddings throughout the midwest. I am so grateful for the friends and family who have supported me every step of the way and for my constant faith that although I may have struggled with imposter syndrome, this is what I’m meant to do.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I would be lying if I said the fruition of Alyse B. Beauty was entirely smooth-sailing. First and foremost, it’s hard to take a chance on yourself. I think I speak for a lot of recent college graduates in their early 20s when I say that Imposter Syndrome is very real. The fear of failure and the overwhelming concern that others may not take me seriously weighed heavily on me. It’s difficult to feel internal success when you’re so concerned about external perspectives.
The reality is that whenever you put yourself out there, there is a chance of failure. The way I think about it is this: Beauty is my passion, and Alyse B. Beauty started as a passion project. If I hadn’t taken a chance, I would’ve denied myself the opportunity to express my passion in a way that fulfills me, and that alone would be more of a failure than the result of trying ever will be. If my mission is to inspire other women to be their most confident and authentic selves, I need to empower myself to show up with that same energy.
Entrepreneurship is hard, but so is not living out your dreams. Change is hard, but so is staying the same. Balancing work and life is hard, but so is not doing what you love. Growth is hard, but so is suppression. Sacrifices are hard, but so is limiting your potential. I chose my hard, and I would choose it every single time. Starting this company has brought me so much joy and inspiration. Alyse B. Beauty has truly made my life much more beautiful.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Alyse B. Beauty specializes in beauty beyond the surface.
Whether it be your wedding day or any special event, our mission is to elevate your natural beauty by capturing your authentic style and empowering you to be your most confident self.
Can you talk to us about happiness and what makes you happy?
Being a part of someone’s cherished memories makes me happy. Empowering women to be their most authentic and confident selves going into their special day is the biggest success to me, as feeling beautiful creates more beautiful moments.
Warm vanilla lattes and sunrise walks also make me happy.
