Daily Inspiration: Meet Ahme Bovee

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ahme Bovee.

Hi Ahme, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Ahmé Bovée didn’t just discover Pilates – she was transformed by it.
While navigating her own struggles with anxiety and depression, Pilates became her lifeline – a simple yet profound tool that helped her reclaim strength, clarity, and purpose. That experience became the spark for her life’s mission: to help others do the same.

Originally from Canada, Ahmé opened her first studio, Pilates in Guelph, in 2000. Years later, she made a bold leap – starting over in a new country to launch Pilates in East in Grand Rapids, Michigan. It wasn’t just a new studio. It was proof of her grit, adaptability, and deep belief in the power of movement to change lives. That studio would eventually evolve into Bovée Pilates – a name that reflects the depth, heart, and transformation at the core of her method.

With over 30 years of experience, Ahmé developed The Bovée Way – a powerful blend of modern movement science and Positive Body Psychology. Her approach is known for awakening untapped potential by helping people align with their body’s natural intelligence – and their life’s deeper calling.

Today, Bovée Pilates is a top-rated studio and instructor training center, changing lives every day with a simple truth:
When you move better, you feel better. And when you feel better, you live better.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road – but the challenges have shaped Bovée Pilates into what it is today.

Early on, like many small business owners, I wore every hat. I taught full-time, managed the business, mentored instructors, and handled the behind-the-scenes operations. There were moments of burnout and times when it felt like the vision was bigger than the resources available.

The rebrand from Pilates in East to Bovée Pilates was another leap. It meant letting go of a name that had strong local roots to step fully into a brand that reflected the depth, training, and transformation we offer. That came with risk, but it allowed us to grow into a more powerful identity.

And, of course, navigating the pandemic was a huge challenge. We had to adapt quickly – moving online, supporting our team and clients through uncertainty, and rebuilding stronger afterward.

But every challenge pushed me – and the studio – to evolve. We doubled down on our mission: to change lives through positive movement and impeccable training. And every hard-earned step forward is part of what makes Bovée Pilates a leader today.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
At Bovée Pilates, we do more than just teach movement – we change lives through it.

I specialize in what’s known as The Bovée Way – a method I’ve developed over decades that blends modern movement science with Positive Body Psychology. It’s about working with the body’s natural design, not against it, and empowering people to feel strong, confident, and fully alive in their own skin.

We’re known for our deep training standards, our transformative approach, and our incredible team. I’m a Master Instructor for one of the world’s top Pilates education programs, and our studio trains the next generation of instructors through nationally recognized certifications.

What sets us apart is the heart behind everything we do. Our mantra is “Feel good, do good” – because when people feel their best, they show up as their best selves in the world. We’re not just helping people move better; we’re helping them live better.

I’m most proud of the thousands of lives we’ve helped transform – and the community we’ve built that’s full of strength, joy, and purpose. That’s the magic of Bovée Pilates.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Absolutely – I believe that growth requires risk. Not reckless risk, but intentional, aligned, purpose-driven risk.

Opening my first studio was a risk. Rebranding to Bovée Pilates after years of being known as Pilates in East was another. That decision meant stepping out from the safety of a familiar name and into something bolder and more reflective of who we are. But I knew the growth we were stepping into needed a brand that could carry the vision forward.

Another big leap was deciding to expand our services beyond classes – investing in massage therapy, instructor education, and soon, a flagship studio. Each of these has required significant financial, time, and emotional investment – and faith in the bigger picture.

I don’t see risk as something to avoid. I see it as a threshold – the place where you’re called to either step forward into your potential or stay where it’s comfortable. My view is: if your vision is clear, the risk is worth it.

You can’t create something extraordinary by playing it small – and Bovée Pilates was never meant to be ordinary.
