Daily Inspiration: Meet Aden Brink

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aden Brink. 

Hi Aden, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
First off, I’ve always enjoyed taking photos. Photography adds so much value to our lives by capturing special moments, people, and places. It allows you to share our life and experiences more profoundly through images. So, last year, I won a camera in a raffle held by my college, and I thought it was the perfect opportunity to start my photography business. I started by researching and learning how to use my camera. Then I started practicing. I’d take pictures of everything. From trees to signs to structures. As I became more comfortable with everything, I created an Instagram account (@adenphotog) to share the photos I took. I didn’t want to only photograph trees and other landscapes, so I asked one of my best friends if I could photograph him. This was my first time taking portrait photographs that weren’t taken on my phone. And they turned out great! Now, I’ve created a website where anybody can view my images and schedule a photoshoot! All I have to do is take it one step at a time. 

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There have undoubtedly been some obstacles along the way, and there will certainly be many more. Starting a photography company requires a significant investment of time and money. As a full-time college student, I don’t always have that much time, and I have to be extremely careful with my money because camera equipment is really expensive. These are some challenges I’ve faced and continue to encounter. 

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
The job I’m in college for is a job in business. I enjoy marketing. In the future, I aspire to be a member of the University of Michigan’s sports marketing team. 

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
Family. Family supports us in both good and bad moments. My family has been extremely supportive, for which I am thankful. Family will always be there for you, no matter what you are going through. My uncle told me, “Each day just work hard and keep climbing the ladder. The only person who can hold you back from achieving your goals is the one in the mirror. When you have a setback, we all do. Don’t take a step back, just prepare for the comeback. We know you really have it going. Think big because you have what it takes. You’re an inspiration to your mom, brothers, and all of us.” Hearing that made me thankful for my family, and it’s reassuring to know that they believe in me. They would do anything for me and I would do anything for them.
