Conversations with Zero Sun

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zero Sun

Zero, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Me(Brody), Jake, and Quinn all met in the Kalamazoo Academy Of Rock program and we decided we should jam outside of the KAR program and try our own thing. We started off playing covers but very quickly started making originals. We wrote our first song “If I’m Ever gonna Change Your Mind” early into the process. By coincidence, I had bumped into a childhood friend who I knew played bass. I hadn’t seen him since I was Probally six years old. That old friend was Julian Barry. He came to play with us one day in our rehearsal space and the rest was history. Our songwriting was on the rise.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Being in a band is like a relationship, but instead of just one other person, you have to learn to work with three others. It is definitely hard when our personalities clash, but our hearts are a lot bigger than our heads. We don’t let the rough patches influence our songwriting, and most importantly our friendship.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are an alternative rock band From Kalamazoo Michigan. We make music from our hearts and we all share a common love for songwriting. We have our debut album coming out around early 2025 and we are super proud and excited to put it out into the world. Our diverse backgrounds in music come together to form a raw and unique blend of alternative, indie, and psychedelic rock.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Creating makes us happy. Hanging out as friends outside of the music is a necessity for all of us and is essential to our songwriting process. We also really enjoy playing live because we think it’s the best way to show off our art.
