Today we’d like to introduce you to Tracy Jones
Hi Tracy, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
From Pandemic Pivot to Global Real Estate: My Journey
The path to a fulfilling career isn’t always a straight line. Mine took a significant detour, but ultimately led me to where I was always meant to be. My real estate journey began in 2021, a pivot born from unexpected circumstances. Like many, I harbored a long-held dream of becoming a real estate broker/agent. However, life’s demands took precedence, and I found myself dedicated to a traditional 9-to-5 career.
That changed when my children all graduated from college. Suddenly, the path seemed clearer. Then, the pandemic hit, and like so many, I faced job loss. This unexpected turn of events became the catalyst I needed. It was the perfect moment to pursue my long-held ambition. I enrolled in the sales agent course, dedicated myself to the studies, and a few months later, passed the exam.
My real estate career began at Keller Williams Somerset, where I gained invaluable experience. I then transitioned to KW City, further honing my skills. Ultimately, I found my professional home at New Way Realty. The boutique atmosphere and strong team dynamic resonated with me deeply, providing the perfect environment to thrive.
Today, I am a multifaceted real estate professional, specializing in buyer, listing, and leasing services, with a particular focus on commercial tenant representation. A significant portion of my business revolves around relocation, a testament to my robust referral network that spans the globe, from the United States to the United Kingdom. This international reach allows me to serve clients with diverse needs and backgrounds, making my work both challenging and incredibly rewarding. My journey is proof that it’s never too late to pursue your dreams, and that even unexpected setbacks can pave the way for new and exciting opportunities.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Navigating the Real Estate Maze: The Not-So-Glamorous Reality
While the glossy images of real estate success often dominate our screens, the reality of building a thriving career in this industry is far from a smooth road. Like many agents, my journey has been punctuated by challenges that tested my resilience and determination.
One of the most significant hurdles was finding the right brokerage and mentors. Real estate can be a competitive arena, and unfortunately, some agents and brokers operate with a “dog-eat-dog” mentality. I encountered stand-offishness and even jealousy, making it difficult to find genuine guidance and support. Discovering New Way Realty, with its boutique vibe and collaborative team, was a turning point. It provided the nurturing environment I needed to flourish.
However, even with the right support, the practicalities of real estate present their own set of struggles. The sheer volume of paperwork, ongoing education requirements, and the constant need to stay abreast of market trends can be overwhelming. The reality TV portrayal of effortless deals and instant success couldn’t be further from the truth. This business demands organization, focus, and a relentless work ethic.
Beyond these personal experiences, many real estate agents face common struggles:
Building a Consistent Client Base: Especially in the early stages, generating leads and building a reliable client base can be a daunting task.
Market Fluctuations: The real estate market is inherently volatile, and agents must adapt to changing conditions, including economic downturns and shifts in buyer/seller behavior.
Balancing Work and Personal Life: The demands of the job often extend beyond traditional work hours, making it challenging to maintain a healthy work-life balance.
Financial Instability: Real estate income can be unpredictable, particularly for newer agents. Managing finances and budgeting for fluctuating income is crucial.
Dealing with Difficult Clients: Not every transaction is smooth, and agents must navigate challenging personalities and complex situations with professionalism and diplomacy.
Despite these obstacles, the rewards of a successful real estate career are significant. Overcoming these struggles has not only strengthened my professional skills but also deepened my understanding of the industry, making the eventual successes all the more satisfying.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
## Luck’s Role: A Short Take
Luck happens, good and bad. But I believe it’s mostly preparation meeting opportunity. Hard work, networking, and adaptability create more “lucky” moments than chance alone. I focus on building those opportunities, not waiting for them.
