Today we’d like to introduce you to Tasia D. Whitehead.
Hi Tasia, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Well, my name is Tasia D. Whitehead, and I am a Michigan native. Since I was about seven years old, I knew something different about myself, but like most young kids, I didn’t want to be “different.” So, as I grew and became more aware of who I was and the purpose of my life, I knew that God had set me apart, but I was not sure why. Around the age of fourteen, I decided that I was going to save myself until marriage, and that started my journey to this place called “purpose.” In 2015, I founded Chasing Purity, which is a movement that focuses on creating a culture of purity that goes beyond sex and reaches the heart. Since its inception, I have had the pleasure of hosting retreats, brunches, and gatherings for women.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road at all! And to be honest, I don’t think the journey is supposed to be “smooth sailing.” In my experiences, it’s been those rough seasons and hard places that have produced the level of faith and fortitude that I have. A few of the things that I have had to overcome (and am still overcoming) are fear of failure, imposter syndrome, and anxiety. I also faced backlash for taking a stance that isn’t common in today’s society. Sharing my journey of singleness and purity requires a level of vulnerability that, as a private person, I have not always been comfortable with. However, operating in purpose requires us to be uncomfortable and do it afraid.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Recently, I had the pleasure of writing my first book “Dear Single Girl, a guide to chasing purity, finding identity, and stewarding singleness well.” I am in no way an expert, but being able to share my journey as a single girl navigating purpose, dating, and building a relationship with God has been a joy. This has given me the assurance that God wastes nothing, and nothing slips through His fingers.
Outside of speaking and writing, I own a virtual assistant company (The Whitehead Agency, LLC), where I help female entrepreneurs masters the virtual space.
What would you say has been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
One of the most important lessons I have learned along my journey is to be true to who you KNOW you are and to have people in your life who will challenge you to be better daily. I have also learned the importance of having mentorship. Having a solid mentor can save you years of heartache and struggle if you are receptive to what they pour into you.
