Hi Raven, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I used to have very low self-esteem. Wasn’t sure of my identity or of myself. Spent the majority of my childhood and teen years were just of me trying to figure myself out. Very bad social anxiety did not help. Eventually, I grew into myself and stopped trying to be everything I wasn’t, and everything fell into place. I got into music in 2019 heavy. I’ve been singing since I was 4 years old but never even knew going to a studio and actually producing songs was an option. I was an athlete, no one told me that was something I could do. But once I started, I knew it was what I was meant to be doing. Nothing makes sense when I’m not creating. It’s my outlet. I also enjoy fashion a lot. I was never able to openly be myself and was always too afraid to dress how I was comfortable. So now I’ve embraced it to the fullest and have actually gotten recognition for it!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely a lot of struggles. Finances has always been one. I wanted to start college out of high school but wasn’t able. And it’s especially hard to chase after passions without a foundation. Sometimes it is hard to balance a work life and a healthy creative mind at the same time. It’s something anyone has to feel and to fight through though. It is worth it though when you love something.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’d like to consider myself an artist! I’ve done paid shows and have music on all streaming platforms. It’s a slow journey of course, but I’ve had a lot of significant moments. Even had people come up to me in public in different cities who recognize me because of my music. It’s a crazy feeling.
What makes you happy?
The simplest answer is looking at the sky. It’s so cliche, but I genuinely could sit outside and look at the sky for hours. Whether it’s a sunrise or sunset, or the moon & stars. Something about how quiet it gets. It’s a small reminder that nothing is as deep as it feels in the moment because that’s all everything is anyway, just moments.
