Today we’d like to introduce you to Morgan Brooks
Hi Morgan, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
From the very start, I was always a creative kid. You could always find me immersed in some artistic activity, whether it was writing, acting, designing clothes, or attempting to dye my own hair. Creativity was something I was always drawn to, and I constantly found new ways to bring my ideas to life. As I grew up, I was certain I would be an illustrator, but that evolved into wanting to be a fashion designer, then a video editor, and finally a hairstylist. Watching my aunt work in her home salon sparked something in me, and it became one of my earliest inspirations. I found myself experimenting with my own hair countless times, whether it was adding a fun new color or deciding on a whim that it was time to chop off several inches. My mom was always there, patient and supportive, as I figured it out in our bathroom.
Recently, I’ve rekindled my love for social media and video editing, which has added a new layer to my creative journey. I’ve been sharing content on TikTok and Instagram, focusing on making people laugh and enjoy a little break in their day. It’s been a fun way to blend my passion for creativity with digital media. I also help run the social media for the salon, where I get to produce engaging videos and professional photos that showcase our work. Being in front of the camera feels like second nature, thanks to my background in acting and performing. Those experiences helped me grow confident and comfortable expressing myself, and I love bringing that same energy to the content I create now. Hearing people laugh and seeing them enjoy themselves has always been one of my favorite feelings. It’s the perfect reminder of why I love what I do.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Starting something new is never as easy as it seems. When I first began hair school through my high school’s tech program, by the end of the year, I was convinced I never wanted to go back. Throughout high school, I was often seen as the “weird” kid, and like many seniors, I had no idea what I wanted to do after graduation. I was terrified of making the wrong decision and worried that I’d end up with a boring, unfulfilling life. During that time, I turned to writing, which became my outlet. I excelled in my English class and found comfort in expressing myself through words. Shout out to my senior year English teacher, You’re a real one Mr. Cioe.
It wasn’t until a year later that I decided to give hair school another try. This time, I knew what I was getting into, and before I knew it, the 11 grueling months were over. You’d think that after all that hard work, the road would be smooth from there, right? Wrong. Before I even graduated, I got my first job at a salon, helping out with reception and observing how services were performed. But something they don’t teach you in hair school is that while they prepare you to pass the state board exams, building a clientele is an entirely different challenge. It’s been an uphill battle ever since I graduated, but I’m still pushing forward. I’m incredibly grateful for my loyal clients who’ve supported me, they make it all worthwhile.
Social media has its own set of struggles, too. It’s easy to see people getting famous overnight on TikTok for their looks or funny videos, but no one talks about how difficult it is to grow a real, engaged audience. I started posting consistently on TikTok around 2019-2020, during COVID, and it became a major creative outlet for me. In a world where I was constantly comparing myself to others, social media gave me a space to express myself freely and find connection. Since then, I’ve had a few videos go viral, and my following has grown to over 10k. But keeping up with trends and staying relevant is tough. Still, at the end of the day, what matters most to me is making even one person smile or laugh, especially if they’re having a bad day. That’s what keeps me going.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in blonde hair, and I absolutely love working with foils. Give me anything involving foils, and I’m happy! I’m also passionate about vivid colors and extensions. Growing up, I colored my own hair with all sorts of crazy colors, so helping others experiment with bold, fun looks is something I really enjoy. It’s such a rewarding experience to see someone embrace a vibrant new style that truly reflects their personality.
In addition to hair coloring, I love creating little video edits of my clients after they’ve gone through a big color change. It’s a way for me to tap into my creative side, and my clients enjoy feeling special when they’re featured on my Instagram page. It’s become a fun way to celebrate their transformations and show off their new look.
What sets me apart is my genuine excitement for helping clients step out of their comfort zones and embrace something new. Whether it’s a stunning blonde or a bold vivid color, I love being part of their journey. Building relationships with my clients and watching their confidence grow with every appointment is what makes my work so fulfilling.
Beyond the salon, social media has become a huge creative playground for me. I love making funny, short, and relatable videos that not only entertain but also give people a glimpse into the real, chaotic side of my life. My “day in the life” content is where I really let loose, causing a little chaos and doing the unthinkable, it’s all about having fun and keeping things unpredictable. It’s a space where I can show my personality, connect with people, and share moments that bring humor and lightness to their day. Social media allows me to merge my passions for creativity and connection, and it’s become an extension of my work that I absolutely love.
What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me is making people feel included, accepted, and confident in their own skin. Growing up, I struggled a lot in high school. I was often the “weird” kid, the one who didn’t have many friends and wasn’t comfortable in my own skin. I know how tough those years can be, how isolating it feels to not fit in, and that’s why I’m so passionate about creating a space where everyone can feel like they belong. Hair is such a powerful way to express who we are, and I want everyone, especially young people going through those difficult years, to feel empowered to embrace their individuality. I want them to know they aren’t alone, and that it’s okay to be exactly who they are.
In addition to my work behind the chair, social media has become an incredible platform for me to reach even more people and spread that same message of inclusivity. Growing up, I was often criticized for being “too loud” or told to tone down my personality, especially when I was doing things I loved. As a young teenage girl, hearing adults tell me to dim who I was really hurt. But instead of holding back, I embraced that part of myself and now use social media to express my full, authentic self. Through my funny, chaotic, and relatable content, I want to show others, especially those who feel like they don’t fit in, that it’s okay to be loud, bold, and unapologetically themselves. If my videos can help someone feel more comfortable in their own skin or even bring a little laughter to their day, then I know I’m doing something right.
