Conversations with Megan Stinson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Stinson.

Hi Megan, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I have always been bursting at the seams with creativity, as well as having an entrepreneurial side. Instead of the usual lemonade stand, I decided one day, as a child, that I was going to sell sunflower seeds, and plucked every last one out of my mother’s sunflowers (sorry, Mom!). I sold beaded jewelry at my first craft fair at the age of 9, taught myself how to crochet in high school, started a jewelry business in college, and am currently working on building my next creative venture. Creating things, in any form, keeps me sane and gives me an outlet for my many ideas. I always tell people that collecting hobbies is my hobby.

My work in marketing is a facet of my creativity, and I greatly enjoy the problem-solving required for helping businesses reach and surpass their business goals. Every business is so different, and with the influx of AI-generated content, it’s really rewarding to help people show up in an authentic way.

As I’ve gotten older, I’ve discovered that prioritizing creativity and fun in my life gives me the most room to explore myself as a person, as well as the world. It’s amazing how art and craft connect us all, and I love being able to share my creativity with others.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There have definitely been some challenges. Early on in my career, I found myself stuck in a toxic work environment and my mental health took a nosedive. I didn’t spend much time doing anything I enjoyed, and it took a couple of years, quitting a couple of jobs, and a lot of work on myself to get back to a place of trusting myself and knowing what I need best.

It’s amazing looking back on that time now and being able to clearly see the puzzle pieces and how they clicked into place to get me to where I am today. While it didn’t feel so great in the moment, I’m glad those experiences and lessons led me to living the life and being the wiser human I am today.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
While I still work full-time in marketing, I’m currently working on building my next creative endeavor. It’s both a blessing and a curse that I have as many creative interests as I do, and I’m currently working on building a brand that encompasses all of those things and invites people to explore new hobbies and forms of self-expression. I’ve tried to specialize in one area in the past, and it leaves me feeling like I’m only a fragment of my full self. I want to show up in the world as my full, authentic self, and encourage others to do the same. My many interests and skills make me more interesting as a human, and I think that being able to relate to so many people based on those things is my superpower.

What are your plans for the future?
I am currently working behind the scenes on building out my next project. I want to create a space where creativity is the focus and exploration and experimentation are encouraged. In a world where we’re told we have to speed up, be more efficient, produce more, etc., I want to be the voice that says, slow down, take your time, and enjoy where you’re at right now.
