Today we’d like to introduce you to Marlon Barnett Jr.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Raised around music since a child, my father made music and produced beats as well as other family and friends that do the same. I became in love with making music around 2022-2023 buying all my own studio equipment and everything that comes along with that. Music gives me a sense of safety, being raised around people who play multiple instruments or even going to church and hearing the gospel music, it all ties in to how I move on my day to day life.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Was never a smooth road, losing my father to self harm at 16 and having to learn how to be a man almost by myself. Sometimes as a artist you might come to a point where you ran out of lyrics to day and now you have to sit and find a way around that. Buying all the equipment took a while, of course I couldnt just buy all of it at once so it went piece by piece
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in making music, editing vocals and im known for being funny as well as running an “at home” studio. What I’m most proud of and I feel like everyone around me can day the same, is that I came a long way without too many role models to watch. Majority of things ive learned came from finding out myself and realizing everybody are not here to help or to guide. Growing up I played sports and did great in school while also making and editing music, I feel like that sets me apart from most people because thats alot to have on one plate at a time and usually people pick 2 they really can focus on
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
The realism of my music. These lyrics and songs come from the heart and the top of my mind. Being through so much for the most part I can get the most out of my history by putting it on a track. I also feel like work ethic plays a major part in success because not working on your craft constantly means you can fall off harder or someone else can take your spot.
