Conversations with Mariah Moorer

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mariah Moorer.

Hi Mariah, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I’ve always has an interest in the fashion industry. My grandma is a seamstress which resulted in me being around fashion all of the time. When I got to college, I wasn’t 100% sure what I wanted to do, but I knew I wanted to work in fashion. After many failed majors, I graduated with a dual degree in marketing and fashion media. When I graduated, I immediately moved to NYC to pursue my dreams. I had some weird jobs but finally landed a role at L’Oréal. After being there for almost a year, I landed my dream job with Tom Ford Beauty supporting the Private Blend, or luxury fragrance division.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I’d be lying if I said this has been an easy process. I worked in Real estate marketing when I first moved to NYC and hated everything about it. I stayed focused and consistent, though and finally can say I am doing what I said I moved to New York for.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I work in marketing professionally, but I am known for my mentorship program/public speaking. I think me being vocal about Christianity and spreading the gospel of Christ in cute ways is what sets me apart. I have never been afraid to say the Christ is the only reason I am successful. Some people don’t do that.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I think the encouragement from our city is what I love most about it. It’s always so much love and support when I come back home. I do not like the lack of connections or spaces for those in the field I am in.
