Conversations with Madeleine Casteel

Today we’d like to introduce you to Madeleine Casteel

Madeleine, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started making music with my friend Rykken a little less than a year ago. The very first studio single we put out was Perfume, which as of today has around 30 thousand streams across platforms. Today, we have two singles and an EP, Does She Still (Call You Mine), available for listeners! Rykken was the one who really got “august” rolling and convinced me to get into the studio – since then we’ve been nonstop creating. It’ll be some time before our next release for various reasons, but we can’t wait for our listeners to hear what we’ve been working on.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’m blessed enough to say we haven’t encountered many struggles. Finding time to get together and work had been challenging and considering I’ve been out of the country for 3 months, we’ve definitely slowed down. Rykken and I both believe that the best work comes with time and there is absolutely no rush!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I make music with my friend, Rykken. We’re most known for our single “Perfume” but also came out with a 5-track EP this summer. I am very proud to be able to say people have received our music well and are willing to wait while we make this new project the best it can be.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
Something that really helps me get inspiration for writing is reading. Recently, I read Normal People and rewatched the TV adaptation, so Connell and Marianne have been working their way into a few of my songs.
