Today we’d like to introduce you to Krupa Patel.
Hi Krupa, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I started playing with makeup and hair tools from when I was a little kid with my cousins. I learned new eyeshadow tricks and how to curl hair, but I never thought I could make it into a business until my 2nd year into college.
Why not take the risk? You never know what could happen!
So, I took a certification class in 2019 with @Blueroseartisty, and from there, I took another course in 2023 with The Makeup Academy in New York City.
I am a certified makeup and hair artist, and growing my clientele is the most important parts of my business right now. (And learning new techniques!)
I offer many different services, and they can be for any event as well!
Weddings, baby showers, bridal shower, reception, birthday, photoshoot, branding, production/film, collabs with other artists/ brands.
If you need your makeup or hair done, I can do it!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not always been a smooth road, and even now it’s hard. Building my business took a lot of risks, like when I chose to take this career path after finishing college. I had doubt about how my business would run and if I would have enough clients to make a living. It has a lot of expenses, so sometimes breaking even from the products and equipment I have to purchase was hard as well.
Having a strong clientele base is hard to create; everything is about networking; who do you know? Who do those people know?
Word of mouth, social media, and any type of promotion can help any business a lot.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a makeup and hair artist. I specialize in women’s, men’s, and all peoples. I am an Indian Makeup Artist, so those are the people that usually come to me. But I am well known for my bright colors in makeup, even on special events. I always try to get my clients to be open with one color aspect to their look. I am most proud of my makeup looks that were created in New York for school. They really pushed me out of my comfort zone and made amazing things happen.
I participated in New York Fashion Week 2023; I did the makeup of a few showstoppers and His Highness Prince Mario Max Schaumburg-Lippe.
I am different because I can work with any person and create a look that is amazing for them. I can cater to their needs and still make them feel like themselves and not someone completely different.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson that I’ve learned is that growing a business takes time and patience. Things don’t happen all of a sudden, and not everyone you know will support your endeavors, but as long as you work hard and stay persistent, you’ll achieve your goal but by bit.
