Conversations with Juliana Meidl

Today we’d like to introduce you to Juliana Meidl. 

Hi Juliana, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Serenity At Home is a Rochester-based home organizing company that was founded in 2018. We help our clients establish realistic and customized organizing systems that are sustainable for them and their families. 

After graduating from Michigan State with a degree in advertising I worked at several Detroit agencies in account management for over 10 years and then decided to stay home to raise my family. I am married to Tom and have three kids Sophie, Max, and Lydia. With a husband who traveled a ton and three young kids being organized was key to keeping my sanity. 

As my children got older, I was looking for what I could do next. With a knack for organizing, a love of helping people, and a desire to start my own business, Serenity At Home was born. 

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Overall, yes it has been a smooth road. The business really started full-time in 2019 and it was a great first year. In 2019 we became the sole In-Home Organizers for The Container Store in Troy, Michigan. It was been an incredible partnership. Clients that come into the store looking for organizing assistance in their homes are referred to Serenity At Home. We also design and install the closet systems that are offered at The Container Store. 

Business was great at the start of 2020 but then the pandemic hit. Clearly being a business built on working closely with clients in their homes, the pandemic created enormous challenges. We did pivot a bit to virtual organizing but it wasn’t until the end of 2020 that things started to pick up again. 

With so many people still working from home we have found a greater demand for our services. 

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Serenity At Home specializes in helping clients simplify their lives. We provide home organizing, concierge services, and home transition assistance. 

We partner with our clients to develop a customized plan to meet their home organizing needs. When a home is in chaos, frustration, and stress take over. We help our clients regain control of the spaces in their home and teach life-changing habits that are sustainable. 

With so much going in everyone’s lives we offer a full range of concierge services. We can take over our client’s to-do lists so they can focus on the important things in life. Whether it is shopping, home management, or contractor coordination we are here for them. 

We also understand that life can change in an instant and we are here to help manage those moments. Whether our clients or their parents are moving, remodeling or downsizing we can help take that stress away and allow our clients to focus on what matters most during these times. We specialize in decluttering and purging before listing a home for sale. We also offer packing, unpacking, and organizing after a move. 

We bring a patient, compassionate and confidential approach to each project. We believe our genuine approach is what differentiates us from other home organizers. 

What does success mean to you?
Success to me is seeing the relief in my clients as they let go of the clutter in their homes that has caused continued stress in their lives. By learning to let go of the clutter, they clear space for what matters most to them.
