Conversations with Jeffrey Daniels

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeffrey Daniels.

Jeffrey Daniels

Hi Jeffrey, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Being someone who lived outside the Metro Detroit area, with family directly born and raised in Metro Detroit, I was fortunate to grow up hearing a lot of Motown music and being opened to sounds and different kinds of black genres of music. I remember my mom telling me that she used to put headphones on her stomach when I was a baby on the airplane, and she’d play all of her favorite songs and artists at that time. She’s definitely a driving force in why I love music so much, as well as my father, who is a former R&B singer and performer.

When it comes to music, I have always been the kid who performed for my family and had concerts in the shower, which I still do now…But don’t tell anytime that(laughing).

Although, I wouldn’t say that’s my driving force. My passion definitely lies in leadership and the ability to bring people together and build people up. I want nothing more but than all of my circle to win. That’s always been my thing. I’ve always been the kid and the person to speak up when I see something wrong or even take charge of a specific project and be the leader in something. God has always given me that passion to lead.

When I got into high school, I listened to a lot of Kendrick Lamar, especially his To Pimp A Butterfly album, which focused on black issues in the community and empowerment. It motivated me to really want to be a professional rapper and change what rap sounded like for my generation.

Before fully getting into rapping, I always wrote music and made beats. It just was my safe space to just let go and enjoy myself with no distractions.

Getting into music more, I wanted to prom for my school. Mind you, I had no music out or ready to perform, but I knew all of the artists who inspired me, and I loved putting together playlist of their songs as a setlist for an actual show.

I went to my principal to ask him if I could perform at a pep rally, and the answer was definitely no. I didn’t really give an explanation of what I’d be performing or what the songs would be about, but it was just the idea of making people feel good with music that I loved.

Soon after, in my 10th grade year, I met my best friend, Cayden Brown, who was in 9th grade at the time. I told him about this vision I had of putting on a concert using songs from black artists to celebrate black history month in our school. Being that our school was so uncultured, I felt this would be so influential.

After fully putting together a presentation and discussing music selections, Cayden and I submitted the idea to district officials, and were soon approved.

That moment alone put a motivation in me that I can do anything I set my mind to.

After 6 months of rehearsing with many trials and tribulations, we made history in our district, selling out our 800-seat auditorium with a 45-minute show of music directly from black artists, performed by our own student body, including myself. After that moment, I instantly became in love with performing. I knew it was something I wanted to do for the rest of my life.

After working tirelessly, I released my first single after and appeared on Hip-Hop producer and artist Timbaland’s live stream on TikTok to share my song, and he loved it. The song was received well and accumulated over 45k streams in 4 months. It made me feel so great to know people loved what I did.

Soon after, in maybe late April, I found out I would be moving to Tampa, Florida after the last day of school in Michigan. I was definitely disappointed due to the legacy I built with the concert I created in February of 2023, named “XCELLENCE LIVE”, for black history month.

When I got to my new school in Tampa, God instantly gave me so much favor and allowed me to be blessed enough to meet with many administrators and grow relationships with people instantly. This allowed me to create another concept for the community during black history month of this year, which I named “UNIFIED”. This concert managed to sell out our 300-seat auditorium. So many students were influenced by the show, including one of the board of education officials who attended and told me how moving she thought the performance was.

As I move forward out of such a legendary high school career I’ve had, I plan to embark on a further journey in my music career, as well as my entrepreneurial efforts. Creating and founding a clothing brand and my own entertainment company has made me realize how much I love being a boss.

I always like to add that I am absolutely nothing without God. Every gift, every talent, every business, every opportunity is from my creator. I like to make that clear in every element of my art as well. God has put a purpose and calling on my life to build people up, and I will not stop until I fulfill my purpose.

I want to thank you for this opportunity, and it’s been an honor to do this interview.

Sincerely,

Jeffrey “JET JUST LANDED” Daniels

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has been a tough road as far as finding out what I should be doing in life. I’m very ambitious, and sometimes, it can be a bit of a challenge figuring out where that ambition should go. Even when it came to me creating the concerts I’ve created in my schools I’ve attended, I was treated at times like a second priority, had a lack of resources at times as well. But even with that, I still got through these challenges. They never stopped me from pushing but makes me dive deeper.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am an entrepreneur – I was a founder and CEO of my former brand “BLCK.ROSE,” and currently a co-founder of “God Bless Apparel & Co.”, as well as the founder of my own label, “Jet Just Landed Entertainment,” which holds all of my own music.

I am a music artist and performer – I have performed for a total of 2000 people in my career so far due to my exposure I’ve been able to have in high school. I have released 2 singles so far, and I am currently working on new music as we approach this summer.

I specialize in writing, producing, and recording music. I also specialize in creative direction and executive producing productions such as concerts.

Most people know me as the guy that never stops working. All of my friends know that even when I’m stressed out and tired, I absolutely love the hustle. I never get tired or bored of working for what I know the results can be for whatever I am getting into. Whether it’s an album, a song, a concert, a business, it doesn’t matter. I’m always inspired to do better. My whole motto is if I’m not working harder than the people in the position I want to be in, then I should not be stopping my grind. I’m also known for always working toward my community. Directing, producing, and arranging those concerts for my schools really made me appreciate my community and be proud of my blackness. I took heavy pride in my community. I only want to build us up, especially in my generation of negative stereotypes displayed of us.

I’m most proud of the fact that God has allowed me to do everything I wanted to do in a shorter amount of time I anticipated. That’s why I don’t put time limits on myself anymore. I used to plan things for the future, not thinking I’d be able to do some of what I wanted in the short amount of time I’ve done it. But that’s why God says do not make plans on top of mine.

What sets me apart from others is my work ethic. My passion. My perseverance. My ability to never ever back down even when I may feel like I’m at war with no soldier assistance. I will work as hard as I need to for whatever I want. I tend to work harder than a lot of young guys my age, which sometimes comes off as intimidating, which is not always what I want out of it. I want to be at the top of whatever I lay my hands on, and that’s just who I am. I don’t like second place.

What matters most to you? Why?
My family. My mother. My faith and relationship with God. I like to say all of those separately, even though they connect into one at the end of the day, simply because my tree of matter aligns with what made me what I am. My family has been and still is always supportive of me and has always celebrated my wins, and I’m forever grateful for that. I am the male version of my mother. I’m her twin. I get so much of my ambition, leadership, knowledge, and wisdom from her. She’s so wise. And, of course, God is the center of all of my life and the reason why I am breathing and able to speak about the many achievements I’ve had.
