Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaxon Romanko (of Sixteen12)
Hi Jaxon, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
We started a band when we were around 12 years old, and it didn’t end up going anywhere. Around the age of 16, after a couple of years of separation due to some unfortunate events, we got back together and started Sixteen12. Nowadays after about a year and a half of operation, we finally burst onto the local scene!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It was anything but easy to get here. As teens who each and every one of us are affected by varying levels of serious mental illness, there has been a decent amount of conflict and turmoil between us, as well as some times where we needed breaks from each other. There has been a time where we thought “wow I guess it’s over” but we reeled it back in eventually and made it into what it is today.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are in a band that can be considered to be “hardcore-adjacent”. There is plenty of room to fit us all over the place in terms of sub-genres so we let others do that in their own assessment. I’m not really sure we are known for anything just, we are very new to being out publicly for people to form opinions on so only time will tell! Our differences from other similar bands is mostly our age and our personality, we don’t take our bands persona extremely seriously, I like to consider it fun and energetic. I’m extremely proud that we have made it to where we have made it to despite the situations we’ve been in as a band as well as personal struggles that held us back, it feels great to be out there finally.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
The people in our little community have been an absolute joy and it’s an honor to say we know the people we do. As for the least, the driving can be complicated in some areas, as well as the drivers!
