Conversations with Hannah Baiardi

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah Baiardi.

Hi Hannah, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I was just talking with friends and family about taking the “hard path” — the one with no map, no financial certainty, and no guarantees, only courage and risk. You see your friends and family “moving ahead” in the traditional sense while most of your work is being done on the inside rather than the outside.

For years I criticized myself for being too “multi-hyphenate,” chasing too many things at once. But I’ve come to accept that exploration is part of my journey — growing, stretching, and expanding until I find my rhythm.

After graduating in 2018 from the University of Michigan with degrees in Communications and Jazz Studies, I started out working in the startup and nonprofit space. Before long, I realized I was craving more flexibility — time to pursue my creative projects and live a more self-directed life. I had originally set out to catch the attention of labels and agents, but it took a major spiritual awakening and many life lessons to realize I had to “discover,” or rather uncover, myself — as so many artists are doing today. If you build it, right? I reframed the idea of “being discovered,” and the disappointment that came with it, into building my own ecosystem — one full of twists, turns, and growth.

Now, at 31, I take comfort in seeing more young adults embracing risk and carving their own unconventional paths. Taking chances deepens self-love and self-respect and shows others that it is possible to live a fulfilling, creative life outside the 9-to-5. I do have to remind myself to be patient and staying a “student of life” more often that I care to admit.

These days, I teach nearly 30 piano students — talented, bright individuals who inspire me to keep growing through production, drum programming, and songwriting. When I’m not teaching, I DJ Euro-house sets (available for weddings, events, and private parties), work on new music, develop my production chops, offer Reiki sessions as a Level II practitioner, and write a weekly Substack column on dating, relationships, and spirituality.

I also host Hannah’s Hideout — a semi-regular livestream featuring curated DJ sets and sonic escapes, where I MC and often play along to the tracks.

My biggest dream is to continue mentoring and empowering women in music — learning alongside them how to become more confident and visible producers and songwriters. In 2025, women represent only 3% of producers and 12% of songwriters globally, so it’s most definitely our time.

Michigan — more specifically, Ann Arbor — is my home. It’s a safe, creative hub for growth among fellow artists, freelancers, and entrepreneurs. I always welcome unlikely collaborations and new projects!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. Much of the journey is spent questioning your choices and, honestly, feeling sorry for yourself. Wondering if you’re time will ever come, sometimes it feels like you are screaming into the void. I hate to admit it, but it’s true. Yet on the flip side, in moments of gratitude, you feel elated — overjoyed and deeply inspired. I often find myself teetering between those extremes. It’s quite a ride!

From the outside, it can look scattered, like you’re not “adulting.” Other times, you feel ahead of the curve — wanting to help others chase their dreams as fiercely as you chase your own. It’s also a lonely path at times, one that demands you keep listening to your intuition and that quiet voice that whispers, keep going.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I suppose I’m known for continually evolving — and sometimes surprising people. There are so many sides of me that haven’t been seen yet. Right now, I’m working on two books: one published under a pseudonym, and another under my own name focused on spirituality, energetic survival, and tools for resilience in today’s world.

In the coming years, I can see myself venturing into comedy — creating character skits and letting people experience more of “funny Hannah,” as opposed to the serious “artist Hannah.”

At the end of the day, it’s always a question of how far I’m willing to embarrass myself in the name of art.

What’s next?
One day, I’d love to create a one-woman show that blends my skits, songs, and storytelling into a modern Vaudeville-style performance — something intimate and unconventional, maybe even in underground spaces or living rooms.

And someday, I hope to be a mother, find a true partner in crime, and build a business that supports women in music, songwriting, and production — complete with a line of Scorpio-inspired apparel.
