Conversations with Fadi Kamel

Today we’d like to introduce you to Fadi Kamel.

Hi Fadi, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Chosen Messenger started in the workplace. In 2015, I had an inclination to start writing weekly devotionals and share them with co-workers. Just two years later, the weekly devotionals we’re reaching 70 colleagues. After my time came to an end at this workplace, my wife, girlfriend at the time, and I started dreaming about how to not let the weekly devotionals come to an end. After prayer and consideration, Chosen Messenger was birthed. The name Chosen Messenger holds significant meaning to us as we believe God chooses us and because of that we ought to be His messengers. Today, nearly eight years later, Chosen Messenger has grown to become a forum for everyday people writing stories about their everyday life and everyday faith. We have three writers who write regularly and share stories of their faith walk.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There has been definitely ups and downs. Many times where we wanted to give up and end it but Jesus by Hs grace has sustained us. The challenges as a writer/blogger is that you want your stories to be read and to be impactful. When that doesn’t happen, it can be very disappointing. Although, we have come to realize and understand that we write for an audience of One, Jesus. May He take the mustard seed and grow it to a tree.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My wife is a professional photographer and runs a photography business. She’s been doing it for over a decade now. Although, her passion expands beyond just photography and pours her love into our home and into our family. She loves being a mom and a homemaker. Her faith drives her to love us well.

I love data and technology and that is what I do in my day job. I love to problem solve and engineer solutions by coding. I have a very analytical and technical mindset and that serves me well in my job. Although, as a writer, that can work against me.

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
We are very fragile and to stay humble. What you had yesterday could be gone today. So be grateful.
