Today we’d like to introduce you to Errol Scott.
Hi Errol, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started my e-commerce clothing/Fitness store with a simple idea: to create stylish, affordable pieces that people could feel confident wearing every day. As a 57 year old Marine Corps veteran living with a disability, I knew I wanted to build something meaningful, something that reflected resilience, purpose and determination. My wife, a leukemia cancer survivor, has also been a huge source of strength and inspiration throughout this journey. Together, our experiences pushed me to pursue something of our own. In the beginning, I had limited resources, but I was determined to turn my vision into something real. As I spent time researching trends, learning about online platform and figuring out how to source quality products. Every step was a learning experience – from setting up my website to understanding how to market my brand. Growth was slow, I had to build trust and attract customers, but I paid close attention to feedback so I could improve. I stayed consistent even when sales were low. Over time, I became more confident in my brand and more strategic in how I ran my business.
Today, my store is still continuing to grow into something I am truly proud of. I’ve developed a clearer brand identity, still building a loyal customer base, and gained valuable experience in running a business. I am still learning and growing, I’ve come a long way from where I started. My journey reflects not just business growth, but perseverance, strength, and the belief that its never too late to build something meaningful.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all, thee were challenges every step of the way. One of the biggest struggles was simply not knowing what I didn’t know , like how to build a website, manage inventory and understanding how to market the business, Trying to learn this all at once at my ripe old age was none the less overwhelming at times, well most of the time. Financial limitations were also a big challenge, I had to be real creative and resourceful just to keep things moving forward, there were slow days, low sales periods that I had to endure. Also balancing my business while living with a disability has its own challenges, requiring me to pace myself and stay disciplined even on difficult days.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I run and manage my own e-commerce clothing/fitness store, where I focus on providing affordable, stylish fashion for Men and women. In addition to by business, I currently work part time at Corewell Health in Grand Rapids Michigan as a material supply chain coordinator, which has helped strengthen my organizational skills and attention to details, but to be honest I already had this skills from the Marine Corps, which I served 9 years and that experience instilled in me discipline, resilience, and a strong work ethic that I carry into everything I do. I specialize in building a brand that connects with real people like myself by offering pieces that are not only trendy but also affordable and accessible. I’m know for never giving up , no matter what, and for pushing forward even when faced with challenges.
What I’m most proud of, above everything else, is my children. They are my greatest accomplishment. Alongside that, as a 57 year old Marine Corps veteran living with a disability, and my wife being a leukemia cancer survivor, building this business represents strength, perseverance, and purpose
What sets me apart form others is my story and the heart behind my brand. I understand struggle, resilience, and determination on a deep level, and that shows in how I run my business and connect with others. I don’t just sell clothing – I represent a journey of never giving up, and that authenticity is what truly makes me and my brand stand out.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I am grateful for the mentors and small business communities , both online and in person , who shared knowledge, guidance, and encouragement when I was just starting out. Their willingness to offer advice on everything from building a website to marketing strategies made a real difference. My customers deserve a huge amount of credit as well. The people who believed in my brand early on, made purchases, shared my business with others, and provided feedback helped shape what my store is today. Their support gave me confidence and the ability to grow. Lastly I am thankful for the platforms and tools that made it possible for me to even start giving me the opportunity to turn an idea into something real. All of these people and resources played a role in helping me stay motivated, keep learning, and continue building something I’m proud of.
