Conversations with Courtney Prince

Today we’d like to introduce you to Courtney Prince.

Hi Courtney, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I have always liked taking photos. I always had a little camera before the cameras on cell phones were a big deal. Everywhere I would go, I would be taking photos of people and scenery. As I got older, I started getting interested in how to edit and how lighting affects pictures. So, it started off as more of a hobby, and I am now turning it into a professional job. I love what I do. I have so much fun with it. 

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I never thought I would be able to actually do this for a career. I had another full-time job, and I was still just taking photos as a hobby. Now I am able to concentrate on my business full-time, and it is paying off. I am already having clients recommend me to family and friends. 

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My business is called The Perfect Click. It’s a photography business. I do just about any type of photography. I do family, seniors, pets, kids, businesses, and I started assisting with weddings. I like doing all of these, and I always look forward to it every time. Right now, I am most proud of how far I have come. Getting to just concentrate on my business has helped me out so much. 

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
When I first decided that I was ready to give this a serious try, I reached out to a fellow photographer, and I started out by taking her advice and assisting with some of her sessions and also doing weddings with her this summer. It has turned out great, and I have learned a lot. I feel like there is so much to learn with photography. So, having a mentor has helped me out a lot. I think that with anything, it helps to have someone guide you that has already done what you are wanting to do.
