Conversations with Cara Chanel

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cara Chanel

Hi Cara, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My passion for photography began during my undergraduate years, when I took a photography class that sparked my interest. Several years later, I had the chance to explore décor photography on a trial basis, and it quickly became my niche. Now, after six years in the industry, I still love every moment of it. Photography feels like therapy to me—capturing beautifully designed spaces and moments brings me immense joy.

Specializing in décor photography has allowed me to tell stories through my work, and it’s been especially rewarding to break barriers as a woman in spaces that aren’t always open to female photographers. I’m proud to be a published photographer, leaving people in awe of the images I create. I take great pride in not only delivering exceptional photos but also in providing outstanding customer service throughout the process.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My journey has not always been easy but I found solace in those moments. Often times I’m hired to just simply take photos of the decor for an event, other photographers or main shooters as we call them have not always been so inviting. The uneasy stare’s have never really bothered me because I know what I was capable of. Photography has been a space where males attend to operate in a larger quality, being a woman has sometimes been hard for me to break into those spaces. Being authentic and providing great work has allowed me to overcome any struggle I may have faced.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a professional photographer specializing in décor, wedding, and event photography. I take great pride in delivering exceptional customer service along with stunning photos. What sets my work apart is my ability to capture unique creativity and bring a fresh perspective through my lens.

What makes you happy?
What makes me happy is my daughter, my family, my friends, and the freedom to be my authentic self. These bring me joy because they are rooted in peace, love, and kindness, which helps in creating a sense of fulfillment in my life.
