Conversations with Candi Gonzalez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Candi Gonzalez.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I a full-time OB/GYN nurse, and a few years ago I found myself navigating a major life change after a divorce. To rebuild financially, I picked up a second job as a corrections nurse, but I realized I was missing something creative and fun. That’s when I discovered spray tanning. What started as a side business, “Mobile Glow by Candi “quickly became so much more than extra income. It became a creative outlet, a way to help people feel confident in their own skin, and eventually a true passion.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of tanning brides, vacationers, fitness competitors, and everyday women who simply want to feel their best. As both a nurse and a spray tan artist, I’m passionate about creating a safe, customized experience while helping clients leave feeling more confident than when they walked in.

Today, my business has evolved into Tan Rx, a brand that blends my nursing background with my expertise in spray tanning. The new name reflects what I believe every client deserves~a customized “prescription” for the perfect glow. Looking back, what started during one of the hardest seasons of my life ended up leading me to something I truly love, and I’m excited for what’s ahead.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but that’s what has made the journey so rewarding. Building a business while working full-time as an OB/GYN nurse has meant sacrificing evenings, weekends, and learning to wear every hat from marketing and bookkeeping to customer service and social media marketing.

One of my biggest challenges was recently rebranding from Mobile Glow by Candi to Tan Rx. It’s scary to change something you’ve worked so hard to build, but I knew the new name better reflected who I am as both a nurse and a spray tan artist. Thankfully, my clients have been incredibly supportive, and every challenge has helped me grow both personally and professionally.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
As the owner of Tan Rx, I specialize in customized spray tans that are tailored to each client’s skin tone, lifestyle, and goals. Whether someone is getting married, heading on vacation, competing, or simply wants a confidence boost, my goal is to create a natural, flawless tan that makes them feel amazing

What sets me apart is my background as an OB/GYN nurse. My medical experience has shaped the way I care for clients,I focus on safety, education, attention to detail, and making every person feel comfortable and confident.. I’m most proud of the relationships I’ve built with my clients. There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing someone look in the mirror, smile, and leave feeling like the best version of themselves

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I’ve learned along my journey is that the work I do goes far beyond the service itself. it’s about the confidence and feeling people walk away with. There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing someone look in the mirror, smile, and leave feeling like the best version of themselves.
