Today we’d like to introduce you to Bree
Bree, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started Tik Tok in 2020 during the pandemic, probably when so many others did, and made dancing videos-which is funny to say because I do not do those anymore. I didn’t post often, just whenever there was a trend that I liked. In 2021, I started posting more, but again, only trending stuff. I’ve always been so busy with my business (wedding photography/videography) that it was har for me to record my own life when doing that for others. I documented a little bit the year before I got married, but truly didn’t start taking Tik Tok seriously until 2023 when I found out I was pregnant. All my friends at the time weren’t in that stage of life with me. I used Tik Tok to connect with future first time moms, as well as watching vlogs of first time moms to get a glimpse of what my life would look like. That’s when I started posting content about nesting, baby items, my breech baby, my eco, my c section, and life after baby. From there I created a great community of moms that I can relate, vent, and chat with who get everything that I go through with not only being a mom but also a wife. This is all when I started gaining a “following” but even then it wasn’t much, I think 3,000 followers. Then summer of 2024 I gained about 2,000 more followers. Then I shared my journey of getting my pink back in October and sharing a lot more about my life and things I love, as well as posting 2-3 times a day. I went from 5,000 to 8,000 then to 10,ooo within a month. I just continued riding the wave, and 3 months later I’m now at 15.7k followers. I don’t even like considering them ” followers” because I have made so many connections with people on there, I consider many to be my friends!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I feel like social media is never a smooth road, it comes with its ebbs and flows. There will be times a video blows up, then all the ones after do and the ones before that get watched as well. You gain more followers, then it slows down again, views get low again, and it’s like back to square one. I used to let views and growth affect me, and I’d let it get in my head and just start a rabbit hole of thoughts; “my content isn’t good enough”, “there’s so many creators like me, what makes me different?”, “I’m in a creative rut”, but I always get past this. I feel like it just comes and goes, I don’t think anything can ever be perfect. But the whole purpose of me being more active on Tik Tok is that I finally get to record my own life and show others, as well as having a digital diary to go back on. It’s true a creative outlet for me! I love editing wedding photos and wedding films, and always wanted time to document my life instead of always focusing on others, and I love using Tik Tok to do that!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I have my own business doing wedding photography and videography, but I also do Tik Tok. On Tik Tok, I’m known for mom content, lifestyle, and baking/cooking (my other passion). I’m most proud of being a mom, it truly has shown me who I really am in so many positive ways, and I love showcasing motherhood to others in such a real and positive light. Motherhood can sometimes be a dark place, and having made so many connections on Tik Tok, I feel like if I didn’t have Tik Tok my motherhood experience would’ve been a little different. I have so many mom friends that give me advice, or let me know that they’re going through the same which makes me feel like I’m not experiencing a lot of these things alone. What sets me apart from others is that I run my own business outside of Tik Tok and balance being a mom and a business owner, and I showcase my business life on my Tik Tok as well. I’m also starting a podcast in April called, Take a Break, where I talk deeper about motherhood, being a business owner, and navigating life! I love to talk as well as making new friends and feel like this is another great creative outlet for me.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
Grand Rapids is a great place for going out with friends and socializing, there are so many cool spots! One thing I don’t like about the city is that since the city has grown so much, traffic has been getting worse at peak hours and parking is starting to become a lot more inconvenient.
